In 1992 R&B music had just become huge with the debuts of singers like R. Kelly and Tevin Campbell but in R&B we had experienced a new trend with female singers and girl groups like SWV and TLC but one female singer that had proven herself worthy and still is one of the biggest names in R&B is Mary J. Blige who released her debut album What's The 411 and had a hit with the song Real Love and based on that song alone Mary was worthy of superstardom. I didn't discover her until her next single Be Happy came out and I thought for a moment she was a new singer because she sounded like Natalie Cole and then I found the song Real Love and found out that it was Mary J. Blige after all and I got her Share My World album as my very first one from Mary J. Blige and I was amazed at her sound but when she did ballads the Natalie Cole comparison came out and she really shined at ballads because she really sounded like Natalie Cole in her early albums. But if you listen to Mary J. Blige's recent albums you could tell that she is headed in a new direction because since her single Family Affair came out in 2001 I think the No More Drama album proved what her future was and it was repeated with the Mary album from 2002. Has Mary J. Blige still proven herself worthy as the Queen Of Hip-Hop Soul?
