Now we can complete our Mayberry collections with the release of Mayberry, R.F.D.: The Complete Series!

All of Mayberry (and Mayberry's kin) will be available to own on DVD: The Danny Thomas Show backdoor pilot for TAGS, all 8 seasons of The Andy Griffith Show, all 5 seasons of Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C., all 3 seasons of Mayberry, R.F.D. and the TV reunion movie Return to Mayberry.

To me, Mayberry, R.F.D. is like seasons 9, 10 and 11 of The Andy Griffith Show. So, in that sense, I'll finally be completing that series.

I did record these off the MeTV alternate feed years ago-it's about time the series comes out on DVD, and I can now get them complete and unedited (I hope.)

Years ago, I had recorded the show off of TV Land during one of their Fandemonium weekend marathons. For some reason, I ended up giving my tapes away.

I like this show, but the main reason I'm happy about this is for the reason I mentioned above. I see it as The Andy Griffith Show seasons 9, 10 and 11. I feel that if the show had always been called The Mayberry Show since its debut in 1960, it simply would have been a cast change of Andy Griffith leaving and being replaced by Ken Berry, rather than changing the title of the series and calling it a spin-off. Of course, I don't know how well The Mayberry Show would have done in syndication as that would have meant there would be 5 seasons in black and white and 6 seasons in color! Most, if not all, people prefer the black and white, Barney Fife seasons, and this would mean there would be 6 color seasons, 3 with Andy Griffith and 3 without included in the reruns.

But I've rambled on enough, lol. I'm looking forward to this release. It's good to see physical media hasn't died.

I'm not fond of The Andy Griffith Show but Mayberry RFD is OK, Ken Berry is a likeable actor and any show that has the super cute looking Arlene Golonka is alright with me.

I might consider getting the full series DVD set as long as the episodes are complete/unedited and the discs are formatted in 4:3 full screen.

I purchased my copy at Wal-Mart yesterday for $40. That's a week earlier and nearly $30 cheaper than Amazon's listing.

Does Helen Crump continue to make appearances in this series?

I think just twice.

Like Willbo said, she makes two appearances. The first episode of the series as well as the first episode of the second season.

Yes, in that second episode, she and Andy return to Mayberry with their new baby. Not a spoiler--that info. is on episode lists, like Wikipedia.

Set came today--I'm watching one of the funniest episodes (my opin. only) from season 3, Howard, the Dream Spinner. Full screen, episode length 25:42, excellent picture. Highly recommended.

Bought this set at Walmart today for $39.95. Still a bit pricey but I’ve been wanting it. They only had this one set on the shelf. No extras which is a shame. Not even an episode listing sheet.

I noticed yesterday afternoon that Amazon is temporarily sold out of this new set. I guess it's been pretty popular with buyers!

I've been to several Wal-Mart's and they have almost all had the new Mayberry RFD entire series on DVD for $39.96. Each store has only had one copy on the shelf that I've seen. I bought mine there and am enjoying it.

One thing I noticed on the Palm Springs episode, the first one where they go out on the dune buggy, in the desert. The accompanying music sounds different on the DVD version vs. the broadcast version, yet there is no music substitution note on the set.

I'm eventually going to do a comparison, once I somehow get my hands on the syndication episode.

I now have the Mayberry RFD complete series DVD, found a pretty good deal on ebay, $31 new and still sealed, paid a total of $38 after the shipping fee and tax was added in.

First episode I wanted to watch was "Hair" from season 3 because a reviewer on Amazon said it's a poor episode and I wanted to see what I think. So I watched it and it's a decent episode, I wouldn't say it's a great episode but certainly not poor. Anyway, I'm glad to now have the DVD's and plan to watch more episodes as time goes along.

And it's good the episodes are full screen formatted as they should be. Unlike the Ozzie & Harriet DVD's from MPI where someone thought it would be a great idea to windowbox the episodes with black bars on all sides of the screen. Those DVD's are a disaster and I'm still furious about it but it is what it is.

Glad you got the set, 1960sTVfan! I love it. Am just now starting to re-watch my set after about a year when I first bought it. I also ordered season 7 of the Andy Griffith Show because this was such a good season of TAGS and a good segue into MRFD.
