I shouldn't have to post a reminder, but maybe sometimes people get lost and forget where they are posting. Political threads are no longer allowed. The politics board was closed last year. I have no plans on bringing it back. I don't have any interest in hosting threads like that. I just want a friendly community where people can discuss sitcoms and TV, play games, and have some light chat.

There are plenty of other social media sites and forums you can use if you want to have those types of political discussions and debates.

Today we've already had threads for "Trans people!" and "Fox News Getting Too Much Pressure For" firing Tucker Carlson. Those types of threads are purely political. They are going to be closed and/or deleted. You are wasting your time and my time by even creating them. Thank you for understanding.

Why not bring the political base back AS A GROUP MEMBERSHIP like I suggested.then the only people on that base will be those of us who wanna see that stuff.... (The base wouldnt appear on the index if they didnt join the group)

I've had it set up as a group membership before. I've blocked people by request. I simply don't want to deal with it at all. I rarely ever posted on it except to break up fights. I never enjoyed reading it.

People who continue to cause problems here are going to find themselves suspended or banned. It might be time to start cleaning house.

I have a lot of bad memories in dealing with all the drama. It's not worth the time and aggravation. As Janice told me a few years ago when I was considering closing it, it doesn't add anything to the site. I regret not closing it sooner.

But it does add something buddy... IT ADDS ATMOSPHERE :)

It gives this place life.... Its good to have it!!!

TJ, thanks...and I know 1000% that no one here is my age and think about health, but the members do have parents, grandparents, older friends and younger friends with health issues, old people are not the ONLY ones with health issues....my sister was hit with MS in her early 20's...RIP at 68..

I think out of the box on everything TJ. It's amazing when one thinks outside the standard box of their lives, how much other stuff they CAN learn..

This theft of C.C.'s has been going on so a long time, my daughter had her's stolen from her auto in her underground parking space.

So many stressed out people from all the criminals in our state.

I came across a former member who had self banned under their username in the siblings thread that was recently Duded. I looked at their most recent posts to see why and found their thread complaining about the politics board being closed. This poll from March 2005 was 18 months before I joined in 2006. What a jerk, the poster gets their way about the politics board being reinstated, yet edits their last threads cursing out this site. :rolleyes: Not going to link to the thread or name this former member, but you can find them easy enough with the info I gave.

What I moan and groan a lot about now, are all the hardships we are all going thru since March 2020.....food shortages, rising prices, people dying more and it goes on and on. Just yesterday I got a small food delivery as my favorite organic soup is still on sale but the couple other things I ordered were out of stock....shocker.

The politics board has sucked for years. I can't even count all the members who left because of it. I even had myself blocked from accessing it. It was really nothing but a hate board.

This topic controls our lives, unless one chooses to live off the grid, and it can be discussed with civility.

If you are all up on things, you'll recall the writer's strike which I believe is finally over and I believe the actors strike is stilll in process.....all employees who work in the Entertainment world and keep all those programs going. Lot of govt in those strikes... I just heard the actors strike is still going on strong, are any of you members aware of these two major strikes.

Find some other interests and things to talk about. Nobody wants to read the constant doom and gloom from you.

I think it's a huge waste of time to devote so much energy to it and to even discuss politics. It doesn't change a thing. Not many of these issues directly affect her at all. They aren't going to magically improve your health and daily life. If you want to change anything, then become a politician. Otherwise you really don't have much control or say in any matters.

I can't believe that site is still open. Talk about a relic and a blast from the past. I remember visiting it many years ago. They don't have much activity these days. They should moderate new members to prevent spam.

They opened in 1999 like us. Our forums only go back to 2000.

Their rules seem to work for them. You don't last that long without them.


We also have STRICT rules about the expected behaviour of our registered forum members - more so than most other forums, because we want to keep this a friendly, family-safe environment filled with relevant discussions (this forum has been ticking over happily since 1999, so the rules do work!) There is zero tolerance for spam, either on the forums or via PM, and signatures are not allowed.

What you think TJ and what I think about spreading knowledge is like day and night. If none cared to fight the enemies, we could be so worse off than we are. I'm NOT Most grannies or isn't what I say count. And I make it a huge point NOT to Should on people. I suggest things, post info and say what has worked for me, but the Shoulds, I don't think so.

I visit other forums from time to time, but I rarely post on any of them. I look at Twitter quite a bit to see what people are talking about and the latest breaking news.

I make the SUGGESTION that you find some other hobbies and interests. Most people have some interest in TV. They come here to discuss sitcoms and TV.

The problem is when you try to insert politics into every thread. You didn't start the thread about Canadian geese to talk about the geese. You really wanted to talk about the homeless and migrants. You wanted to create a thread to talk about your deceased gay relatives and friends. I know you really wanted to talk about what you hear about in the news (your quote: "The topic is so huge now and I really try to ignore all that is going on and with small children."). Then there was the one about buying condoms.

You seem to like to cherry-pick all the worst news you can find. Everything has some type of political angle for you. I'm not interested in having any more threads about COVID-19, the vaccines, or anything too controversial. I know these are very important issues for you. You can discuss them elsewhere.

If you don't want your hands slapped, then start following the rules like everyone else. I don't know how I can make them any more clear to you.

This Forum has CHIT CHAT and so many other topics are posted there for discussion, like trees along interstates. I've posted in all the topics that give me some interest and why post in those that don't.....

And maybe you mis read me, I asked if you ever joined other forums outr there or just totally stayed with sitcoms.....

I have tried different forums over the years and still post on them. Nothing serious . I am an active member of Gameboomers as I love computer games. Over there there are no political threads. Only threads to help out gamers who need help with a part of a game they are stuck on or with tech issues. It's just all about gaming and I love it! I am also active on Facebook but that gets tiresome with all of the political talk and bashing. Sometimes I just want to leave there but I keep on to keep in touch with my friends and relatives.
Caroline, I have asked you this before. Why did you join this forum as you stated that you don't watch tv?

Penny, I've mentioned this before, I did not go after this forum to join, a member led me here and said it was a good one and I didn't have a clue of it's history and had never used or seen the word sitcoms, I am not a fanatic tv person but I've done my share in my LONG life and the programming I watched was quality and I enjoyed many programs, all kinds.

I had many jobs and hobbies in my first 60 yrs of life. My husband chose another path after our marriage. You missed that part of life, lucky you.

Although the path I ended up on led me to many varities of life and so I gently have thanked him for what he chose.


And one more comment, we as Americans need to be involved in decisions made for us whether to only vote or do more. So much got so heated up with the Virus that hit us all in some way. My dad in his minor way got involved in our town's politics. .

I have many points of view in life, liberal, conservative, middle of road and so it goes.

I thought this thread was locked, but it's not.

No changes in my view points and will add I'll be happy to take the 2024 COLA increase in my S.S. payments. Would like to see more, but I'll take it...Anyone close to collecting S.S.? Sure glad it's there...
