While Family Guy still feels heavily written by Gen-Xers, American Dad (https://www.reddit.com/r/television/comments/12un693/the_endearing_bizarreness_of_recent_american_dad/)’s last 4-5 seasons are noticeably written by people so much younger, they would have been in kindergarten when the first season premiered. The entire context of its original Bush-era humor means nothing to them and it’s now so removed from Seth Mcfarlane’s sensibilities, it even has pop culture references fresher than 1997!

Its original premise was an ******* conservative dad with liberal kids and an apolitical wife, which was boring and annoying, but now it’s become more of an Always Sunny kind of setup in which the family gets along but they’re all so dangerously deranged and so destructive to everyone else that they’ve ended the world in I think six different timelines now. Some episodes are meandering sitcomesque stories that are very hit or miss while others are like the crew keeps competing to see who can subject these orophaned family guy stand-ins to the weirdest scenario they can before it gets cancelled.
