I realise the distance between Milwaukee and California. But Sgt.Plout had appeared in two episodes.Plus Laverne's old nemesis Rosie Greenbaum even showed up in one episode. You'd think the Fonz would have paid the girls a surprise visit at least once.
It seems that once the girls moved to California, their connection with the Fonz and Richie was all but forgotten. Was that because of a change of writing staff?

Fonzie was only in 4 episodes of L&S, the first two episodes of the series, the season two opener and the crossover episode that opened season 5. There was more than one change in season 6, the show not only moved from blue collar Milwaukee to LA, it also relocated to the second half of the 60's. That was made clear in the opening with the ladies poster of The Beatles on the wall. Fonzie was now a character living in some vague limbo timewise, if the late 50's-early 60's had taken place in the 70's, he no longer fit into their world.

So then the California seasons were set after the final season of Happy Days.:)

By the time they moved to California they had pretty much totally disconnected themselves from their Happy Days' days. In the beginning it takes place in the 50s, but by the end it almost seems like the show is clearly in the 70s

Him not living in California means nothing in sitcom land. Especially in a Gary Marshall show where reality does not matter. Happy Days, Mork and Mindy, and Laverne and Shirley just drifted apart after 1980. They stopped their cross over shows. I think it would have been funny if Mork took Richie or Fonzie to the 80's with him. Lol

But the original reason for the crossovers was that they both lived Milwaukee so the move to California was a big reason. And if there was a crossover it would have only been one that involved the Cunninghams taking a trip to westcoast
