Any info about this show please post? How long was it on? Do you think Tv Land will ever replay it again? Thanks!

704 Hauser is in no relation to All in the Family (except for the address, of course). It was on in spring of 1994 or 1995, I believe. It was the same as AITF but it had a black family instead of a white family. Norman Lear wanted to return to his roots and tried everything to get viewers to watch it but it only lasted several episodes.

Just a little useless (or useful) trivia: Joey Stivic (the son of Gloria and Meathead) made an appearance in one episode.

That's pretty much it. I don't know if it ever aired on TV Land. Maybe it did before fall of 2000 (when I first got the channel) but I'm not sure.

I've never seen it, but, here goes. The show produced only six episodes, and made an un-aired pilot which featured one character that didn't appear in the actual series. John Amos appeared as the head of a black family; instead of being conservative, like Archie Bunker, he was liberal, and his son was conservative. And, his wife was very religious, and not a ding bat. Also, his son was dating a white, Jewish girl. While the dad was liberal, when it actually hit home, he was very bigoted, not approving of his sons choice of girlfriend (played by NewsRadio and ER's Maura Tierny). Also, one of the episodes, the last made, was left unaired.

Also, Joey Stivic made his appearance in the first episode, and he made no others.

I don't think TV LAND will ever aired that sitcom-it only aired for 30 days-it must have been that bad-I don't think that sitcom will ever appear on a Television screen again

So, it lasted five epispdes; that means nothing. That doesn't mean they could do a one-time airing.

Why would they do a one time airing and it didn't come from a Popular show-I'm nt one to believe this show spinned off from no show because all in the family had ended 12 years before this show started. Now if you think of some other shows that lasted five episodes-like Grady or Checking In-both of those shows featured Characters from hit shows like marla gibbs and grady from sanford and son. But not 704 Houser-yeah it's the same street the bunkers lived on but not the same-

In a few days, they're airing shows like The Powers That Be and Sunday Dinner, which barely ANYONE remembers. And, the pilot DID feature Joey Stivic! Why WOULDN'T they? Come off of it!

I guess TV LAND will show it if it's part of a box set but other than that why would anyone look at it?

;) 704 Hauser ran from April 11, 1994 to May 9, 1994 and that's it. The show was painful to watch but not because it was bad. it was painful because it was 1994 and here was a show that had nothing to prove. Norman Lear made his name in the '70s when TV was tame and when he churned out the hits (All in the Family, Sanford and Son, Maude, Good Times, The Jeffersons, One Day at a Time, Mary Hartman-Mary Hartman, Fernwood 2-Nite, and Archie Bunker's Place) they were shocking and controversial and that as a result spelled "viewers". however, as times changed and that dreadful political correctness come into play, it was no longer "funny" watching Norman's racial comedies. the PC crowd took offense! so in 1994 when PC was the rule and all comedies were like they were in the '50s, a show like "704 Hauser" couldn't possibly survive. it wasn't a spin-off of "All in the Family", merely a distant relative. here's some little known trivia: the set used during the 1992-1993 season of "Hanging with Mr. Cooper" was the very same one used on "Growing Pains". Alan Thicke, who played Jason Seaver on "Growing Pains", actually made an appearance on Mr Cooper's first episode to hand him the keys to the house...the Seavers of "Growing Pains" were moving away and Jason sold Mr. Cooper the house!

My grandparents have all 4 or 5 episodes of 704 Hauser...and I HATE them. John Amos was totally wasted in such a meaningless and uninteresting role, and it was impossible to compare to AITF. The writing was silly, and the plotlines were confusing. The one I recall watching most recently was when Joey Stivic comes to the house, and he's like a motor-cycle rider with tatoos and stuff.

:( i have the first episode on tape, the one with Joey Stivic. like i said, it was just too painful to watch...you never knew what Ernie was going to say and 99% of what he did say made me cringe! the same for Henry Winkler in that Rush Limbaugh parody he did called "Monty". i could never laugh at it because the humor was just so topical to the point of over-kill, if that makes sense!? even on "Crossfire" on CNN everytime one of the politicians get on a rant i have to change the channel because it's not funny anymore.( "Cross-Fire" IS a comedy! just sit and watch Paul Begala and see if YOU don't bust out laughing at everything he says!)

704 Hauser at least had some OK writers behind it...Monty was just a terribly unfunny comedy that seemed like a clone of AITF with unfunny writing and no character development whatsoever. Even Henry Winkler couldn't bring anything to such an unrealistic politics-driven character.

This show should have been #5 on the 50 worst shows. Very pointless show
