When Murdoch and fourth wife Jerry Hall finalized their divorce in 2022, part of the settlement was that Hall couldn’t give story ideas to the writers on Succession, reports Vanity Fair's Gabriel Sherman, who adds: "According to another source, Lachlan (Murdoch) told Rupert that James (Murdoch) was leaking stories to the writers of Succession, HBO’s acclaimed drama about a Murdoch-like media dynasty. (The person close to Lachlan denies Lachlan told Rupert this.)"
