Warner Bros. Discovery announced at its Max press event that The Big Bang Theory co-creator Chuck Lorre is developing a new comedy series in The Big Bang Theory universe. The news comes amid talk that the first spinoff, Young Sheldon, may end next year with Season 7. "No further details were disclosed, with sources indicating that the project is very early in the development process, and it has not been determined yet what character(s) it would center on," reports Deadline's Nellie Andreeva. Young Sheldon currently ranks as the most-watched comedy on broadcast among total viewers in its current sixth season.

I could imagine one of two scenarios, one a remake of the series with an entirely new cast set in the present featuring Sheldon, Leonard and the rest of the gang who are all around 30 born in the mid to late 90's. The second scenario would be centering on a different set of characters who work at Caltech.

While out promoting the new Max comedy "Bookie", Chuck Lorre gave a brief update on the new "Big Bang Theory" spin-off that Max announced was in development.

“It’s prenatal,” Lorre tells TVLine. “Yeah, you don’t talk about the birth until the second trimester, I believe, is the rule. That’s a long way of saying no, I’ve got nothing to say about it other than it’s something that we are discussing.”
