Elizabeth Hubbard, the amazingly talented, Emmy Award-winning actress who played the role of Lucinda Walsh on As the World Turns from 1984 until the soap was cancelled in 2010, has died at age 89. Actress Martha Byrne, who played her adopted daughter Lily, broke the news on her Twitter account.

Elizabeth was clasically trained, and also played the role of Althea on The Doctors for several decades. She will certainly be missed.... :( :( :(

Many of Elizabeth Hubbard's former co-stars have taken to social media over the past several days to honor the talented and formidable actress, including Mary Beth Evans, (Kayla, DOOL), who played her daughter Sierra, saying "I was so lucky to play her daughter for six years on As the World Turns."

Michael Park (ex-Jack) says, "She was a ferocious talent in love with her craft. One of the greats that will certainly be missed."

Alec Baldwin, who worked with Hubbard on The Doctors, simply said "An amazing woman and remarkable actress."

Scott Bryce (Craig Montgomery), "She was astonishing. RIP Liz. Love you, woman..."

And Martha Byrne, the Emmy-winning actress who played Lucinda's daughter Lily the longest has always thanked Hubbard over the years for "changing my life forever and by showing me what being a true actress is."

May she rest in peace. I believe I saw her in one episode of one of the Law & Order shows too, but I can't remember which one right now.

In a very sad article from SheKnows, Elizabeth Hubbard's son Jeremy Bennett reveals Elizabeth's struggle with the colon cancer that would eventually claim her life, but also the fight with her insurance company to pay benefits for her care, which was refused! :mad: She would die just a few days before the insurance company's mandatory 90 day "elimination" period... :(
