I didn't know that florida was that much older than jamesin real life-jamesalways seemed to be in Florida's age bracket so when i found out that florida was old enough to be james mother-i was shocked

Nope, I never knew that. But it was obvious that Esther Rolle (who played Florida) was older than John Amos (who played James). You could tell because Esther had some white in her hair and her face had some wrinkles. John, on the other hand didn't.

JAMES DID HAVE SOME GRAY IN HIS HAIR ALSO-THAT'S WHAT MADE ME THINK HE WAS IN HER AGE BRACKET

Yup-james was young enough to be florida's son in real life-and james was only 6 years than J.J in real life

I always knew Esther was older than John Amos, but I never knew that John and Jimmy Walker were that close in age. That's a credit to the make up department and anyone else who helped make James Evans look older.

Yup- james and j.j were both born in the 1940's
