Paul Cattermole, a member of the British pop group S Club 7, has died unexpectedly at age 46.

The tragic news came courtesy of a joint statement from both Cattermole’s family and the band to the BBC: “It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother Paul Cattermole.”

No official cause of death was given, with the statement adding, “Dorset Police has confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances. Paul’s family, friends and fellow members of S Club request privacy at this time.”

“We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul,” reads a caption on S Club 7’s official Instagram, accompanied by a black-and-white photo of a young Cattermole.

“There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel. We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have. He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time.”

News of Cattermole’s death comes just weeks after the group announced S Club 7 Reunited, a 25-year celebration tour with multiple dates across the UK. Formed by ex Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller, S Club 7 released four studio albums between 1999 and 2002 .

S Club 7 was marketed internationally via a sitcom starring the group members as exaggerated versions of themselves. Stateside, the episodes — under multiple titles, including "S Club 7 in Miami" and "S Club 7 in LA" — aired between 1999 and 2002 on Fox Family and ABC Family, the network that would later become Freeform.

Paul Cattermole from S Club 7 is dead? I remember S Club 7 very well because the very first time I ever heard of them was when they featured in a cute British movie called The Greatest Store In The World and the movie was about orphans who lived in a department store. Anyway S Club 7 was featured in that movie singing You're My Number One and the orphans danced with them while they sang and they were great. I then discovered Hasbro's line of S Club 7 dolls and they looked amazing and even had singing versions of the dolls and then I read about them and brought their album 7 and S Club 7 really did take off like a rocket thanks to Fox Family's S Club 7 In Miami TV show and really if it hadn't been for Fox Family S Club 7 wouldn't have become big in America. On Paul Cattermole himself I always thought Paul looked cute because of the outfits he wore and he looked handsome from pictures i'd see of him. But him and Bradley Macintosh were two of the S Club 7 members that really had the star quality while the other guy in S Club 7 Jon was the best singer. But S Club 7 was indeed a huge moneymaker for Fox Family because when I saw an episode of their show they tried to make them like The Monkees and The Partridge Family and many of the music groups that had TV shows based on them. If you ever get the chance Google the movie The Greatest Store In The World and you'll see S Club 7's appearence in that movie. Paul will be truly missed by S Club 7 fans everywhere
