View Full Version : Popping versus flying

In the early seasons, sometimes Sam would fly somewhere and then there were times she'd pop into a place. Popping seemed to be the preferred method. Why would a witch fly, if he/she could pop?

Then there was that time the 3 witches showed up in that magical car. Why would a witch need a magical car with a chauffeur?

Similarly, sometimes Sam would do an incantation, other times she would wiggle her nose, sometimes she would direct something gently with one finger as it flew through the air, and still other times she would just go "shazam!" with both hands.

Maybe witches "pop" out to the sky to fly. Or pop into whatever dimension they travel through. Then materialize or pop back into our dimension or reality or whatever it is.

The incantations are interesting, perhaps more of a concentration method.

I always wondered about when Samantha went back in time. How come sometimes she had no memory and other times she did? How come sometimes she could still use her magic and other times she couldn't? Kind of inconsistent.

I always assumed for simple stuff, Samantha could just wiggle or nose, but for more complex stuff she had to do the incantations.

Another thing I wondered, sometimes Samantha would need to mix up an elaborate potion and couldn't find a specific ingredient, and I always wondered why couldn't she just zap up the ingredient lol

Or when there was trouble and they had to cover something up in front of Larry or someone, why couldn't Samantha just zap the thing in question out of everyone's memory or turn back time to do it over again?

And WHY didn't Samantha end world poverty, feed all the starving children and cure horrible diseases lol

In my opinion if you had the power to wipe out poverty but chose NOT to, you would be immoral. This is one reason I pretty much stand by the idea that you cannot be a billionaire and be a good person at the same time

In a universe where there are witches that are practically ALL powerful, there are so many quesitions lol

Messing with time travel is a dangerous thing.

I saw the first episode the other day, and Samantha explained to Darrin that she wasn't that experienced, and could only do little things (she was doing things like moving ashtrays and instantly cleaning the kitchen). Even if she got better as the series went on, I would think ending world poverty would be a pretty big thing.

Your billionaire theory is interesting, but it sounds like going down a rabbit hole. Most billionaires contribute to charities or causes that they are fond of. Sometimes some people don't like their causes. And what if they contribute 20% instead of 25% (plug in whatever numbers you like)? Does that still mean they are bad people? And if you're not a billionaire, but could afford to donate x amount to a food bank but instead buy an XBox, then I guess you're a bad person then too?

That's the thing though, a billionaire could do BOTH, they could donate a HUGE amount to charity and ALSO buy the XBOX, heck they could buy a MILLION XBOXES. Money means a lot more to me than it would to a billionaire, so often, yeah I DO put my own selfish needs first...but if I were a billionaire, I could do BOTH! I could buy whatever I wanted for myself, plus end world poverty. I don't think it's really fair to compare an average person just getting by to a multi billionaire.

I just HEARD the quote, "You can't be a billionaire and be a good person at the same time" and I sorta agree with it. Mainly because if all the billionaires got together they could end world poverty, house all the homeless people, pay off everyone's student depts,etc... and they would STILL be wealthy enough to live comfortably! But yet NOT ONE has ever done this.

A billion dollars is an unbelievable amount of money, if you were working and making a million dollars per year, you'd have to work 1000 years to make a billion dollars, then there are people with 100 times that much! It's an INSANE amount of money!

If I were a billionaire, I always said, I'd be a cool billionaire, if I had so much money that I had mutual funds, stocks, bonds, all generating wealth by the second, I would literally walk down the street just HANDING homeless people a million dollars, to me that would fun, The way Jed Clampett and Gomez Addams just hand their money out like it's nothing, that would be fun, IMO, if I had enough to do that

A billion dollars does not go as far today as it used to.

But back to the topic: When the witches "pop" out of one place and appear in another, do they make the teleportation INSTANTLY, or is there an in between stage? I've noticed sometimes when Samantha pops out of one place, the focus will still be on Darrin or whoever she left behind for a few seconds, then it will cut to the place she's about to appear in, then she appears, So I used to wonder what was going on and where Samantha was in that 10 or so seconds in between the popping out and popping in? I always pictured maybe she was flying through some sort of time/space portal perhaps

Sometimes it's just nice to dust of the old broom and feel the wind rushing through your hair....
