Rob Marciano wants back in ‘Good Morning America’ studio after ‘ban’

There’s a reason why (https://www.lipstickalley.com/threads/page-six-rob-marciano-wants-back-in-%E2%80%98good-morning-america%E2%80%99-studio-after-%E2%80%98ban%E2%80%99.5205465/) ABC weatherman Rob Marciano hasn’t reported from the “Good Morning America” studio for nearly a year.

Multiple sources tell Page Six that Marciano was “banned” from Times Square Studios, where the show shoots daily, after he made a colleague feel uncomfortable last year.

“He was found to have done something… that was improper, but he was punished for it, and they still haven’t let him return,” one insider told us.

It’s unclear what exactly transpired between Marciano and his colleague, but another source told us he had been dealing with some anger management issues while going through a divorce from his wife, Eryn.

“He made people feel uncomfortable. There was a period where there were some issues, a number of alarming events,” the second source claimed.

We’re told the network’s employee relations took Marciano off the air for a month following the alleged incident with a female colleague, but “GMA” executive producer Simone Swink “still won’t allow him back in [the studio],” several months later.

“She’s no nonsense and is very serious. She’s focused on the work and wants to keep [her staff] focused and happy. She’s very protective of her team,” the second source said.

Swink was appointed to the top job after former boss Michael Corn was ousted from the network amid claims that he xesually assaulted two women. She has since been “running a very tight ship,” and doesn’t want anything to distract from the show, we hear.

“There were times when [Marciano] was very cranky and angry… unsavory behavior on his part. He was pulled off to deal with it and he’s been back,” the second source said.

Still, Swink appears to be holidng her ground, and is being “extra cautious” when “all he wants is his old job back, and to be allowed back in,” the first source said.

Another source familiar with the situation said, “Any decision made about the team is based first and foremost on protecting the culture and enabling our people to focus on the work of news gathering – free of distraction.”

Meanwhile, Marciano continues to provide weather reports on other ABC News platforms including its digital livestreams and “World News Tonight,” which shoots in another studio in New York.

He reports from the field whenever he does appear on “GMA,” and will continue to not be allowed at the Times Square location, it seems.

A rep for Marciano and “GMA” did not comment.

Meteorologist Rob Marciano officially fired by ABC (https://www.thedailybeast.com/abc-news-kicks-gma-weatherman-rob-marciano-to-the-curb-over-complaints)

Rob Marciano, the veteran ABC News meteorologist who provided weather updates for Good Morning America and World News Tonight, has been fired by the network, a source familiar with the matter confirmed to The Daily Beast.

ABC News gave Marciano the boot on Tuesday following complaints from multiple network staffers over his behavior, sources noted. Marciano’s allegedly aggressive behavior, as Page Six reported last year, had resulted in the weatherman being “banned” from the GMA studio for roughly a year. An ABC News spokesperson declined to comment on Marciano’s firing. Puck first reported on Marciano’s exit.

“He was found to have done something … that was improper, but he was punished for it, and they still haven’t let him return,” a network insider told Page Six last year. The outlet reported that Marciano was barred from the set after making a colleague feel uncomfortable

Additional sources at the time told Page Six that Marciano was dealing with “anger management issues” as he went through a divorce, adding that he “made people feel uncomfortable” during a series of “alarming events.”

It was announced last September that Marciano would stop providing the weather reporters for Good Morning America’s weekend editions, with Somara Theodore taking over that role. At the time of the move, Marciano noted on social media he was not leaving the network and that he was looking forward to an “exciting new project” with NatGeo.

In recent months, he was moved to ABC News’ nightly news program World News Tonight and continued to make occasional appearances on GMA. Prior to joining ABC News in 2014, Marciano was a meteorologist for CNN and co-anchored the syndicated celebrity gossip program Entertainment Tonight.

Marciano did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
