March 2, 1954 - March 4, 2023 It is with profound sadness that we share Robert S. Haimer (aka Artie Barnes) passed away on March 4, 2023 at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles from pneumonia and respiratory failure.

Robert leaves behind his soulmate of 32 years Faithe Raphael Haimer. He was a proud, loving father to his sons Wynn Raphael Haimer and Ian Jack Haimer of Los Angeles, CA. A native Californian, Robert was the son of Jack and Miriam of Cheviot Hills, CA, brother to Brian (sister-in-law Sangheeta Singh) of Malibu, CA, brother-in-law to Dani Markman (Elliot) of Winnetka, CA, and Uncle to Hailey Markman-Slack (John) of Lake Forest, CA.

Robert held his most treasured friendships close to his heart, and his beloved family extended to Massachusetts and Florida. Throughout numerous visits he came to love New England and Boston, his wife's hometown, as his own.

During his nearly five-decades-long career as a musician, singer, songwriter, and producer he was half of the comedy duo Barnes & Barnes, with his childhood friend Bill Mumy. He is perhaps best known for the 1978 novelty song "Fish Heads," and the MTV and Saturday Night Live featured music video "Fish Heads," which also launched lifelong friendships with Bill Paxton, and Dr. Demento (Barry Hansen).

Throughout the 1980s and '90s Barnes & Barnes found its recorded music home and family with Rhino Records. Robert collaborated with numerous musicians including America, Devo, Weird Al Yankovic, Rosemary Clooney, Crispin Glover, most recently Napoleon XIV among others.

Loved by his fans for his genuine connection with them, his originality, and his quirky sense of humor, he leaves behind a deep catalog of beloved songs. He was a loyal and supportive friend, brother, father, and spouse.
