Any health buffs here that can provide a cliff notes summary?

I'm seeing a lot of angst against trans fat. But most food labels I read claim the product contains zero trans fat, so the warnings are curious to me. Was trans fat a "thing" for a while? But now everybody is wiser and avoiding it?

And I'm seeing products listing like 10 grams total fat, 5 grams saturated fat, and 0 trans fat.
Should I conclude from that ...the unidentified fat is an "unsaturated" fat? What's the deal on those....are they not as bad for you and therefore escape mention? Just seems odd there is so much said about saturated and trans fats, but little scorn for unsaturated fats

Trying to get a better understanding.

Had a health incident a few weeks ago, and I've been eating nothing besides fruit and vegetables since then. Feeling a lot better.

But now I'm looking for what else I can safely work back into my diet, without regrets.

I'm no authority on fats, but I know we need good fats for good health and good brain.

Keep saturated fats to a minimum, I eat some as I eat a little coconut oil almost daily.

I don't avoid fats, but I don't overdo them either. And if the labs on cholesterol issues are really necessary, mine are in good shape.

What little meat I eat, I buy with a higher fat content as otherwise the taste is bland. Fats make things tastier. I've changed my foods so much in the last 5 yrs or so, cut out junk stuff...
