I believe the veteran actress Agnes Moorehead was a lesbian. As I'm sure most of you know she was not alone in being gay. Dick Sargent and Paul Lynde were gay as well. Considering that Bewitched presents the picture of 60's suburbia, it's kind of ironic eh?

I never knew this about Agnes Moorehead. Has she ever been married? Did she have any kids?

The only information I have on Agnes Moorehead is her birth and death dates, 1906-1974. Have also heard that she was gay so I don't know too much else about her personal life.

It is rumored that she and Debbie Reynolds were companions. I'm not certain, though, how reliable this is. I did come across it in a book some time ago.

I've heard the rumors that Agnes Moorhead was a lesbian. I also heard that they hid the fact that Dick Sargeant was gay from her. I think it was because she was very religious and she wouldn't accept him or some such thing. I can't remember where I heard that though.

Aggie Moorehead had been married once and had a son in his early 20s when she started on Bewitched. I'd heard rumors that she was a lesbian, but what does it matter? She was more like a surrogate Mom to Debbie Reynolds after her divorce from Eddie Fisher, and Debbie insisted they hire Aggie as a co-star in the 1964 film "The Singing Nun". The sister (nun) that the story was based on ended up leaving the church and was in a long-term relationship with another woman. This could be why there is some confusion. It was an open secret on the set that Dick Sargeant and Paul Lynde were gay (like there was any doubt about Paul Lynde!!!). Agnes Morrhead was a religious woman, but not a bible-thumper. She basically was a Christian who belived in God and the Golden Rule above everything else.

Agnes Moorehead was married and divorced twice. She 'adopted" her "son" Sean with her first husband Jack Lee. In actuality, this "son" was never legally adopted. Agnes supoorted him until he reached adulthood, sending him to boarding schools appeared with him in public events during his times home. He disappeared from her life when he reached age 21. No one has ever heard a word about him since then. He was not in her will and certainly not at her funeral. Some people said that he died in viet Nam, but no one knows for sure.
Debbie Reynolds never grants any interviews about Agnes. Although people rumored Agnes to be gay after her death, there was never any proof about this. No female ever claimed to have been her lover or been involved with her and there was never anything in her life to suggest it. Her mother was the center of her life and she spent all her time with her, really. She left her entire estate to provide for the care of her elderly mother who outlived her by a number of years. Agnes was a very well-educated, well-mannered, sophisticated, cultured lady of high character and integrity, and, yes, very religious.

"I've heard the rumors that Agnes Moorhead was a lesbian. I also heard that they hid the fact that Dick Sargeant was gay from her. "

Since Dick Sargent was in the closet during the run of the show, I'm not exactly sure what "they" would have been trying to hide from her. It was not unusual for gay actors at that time to create fake bios about themselves that claimed spouses they never had. Dick Sargent, who never married, did this. I'm not saying Agnes Moorehead did too, but it would not have been unusual.

In addition to the usual "suspects" on the show, I have also heard Dick York was gay. BTW, whether any, all, or none of this is true matters not to me.
