Many times they had the best lines and laughs. What made them so funny is their banter scenes were once per episode which was perfect. I agree that a full sitcom of this banter would not work. However after the first few episodes of the Ropers, it was dropped in favor of trying to develop clever plots. In season 2 of the Ropers, its rare to see any sexual tension between the two.
