Shakira Breaks 14 Guinness World Records with 'Music Sessions Vol. 53'

When it comes to setting world records, Shakira's streams don't lie.

The Colombian pop star just broke 14 Guinness World Records with "Music Sessions Vol. 53," her collaboration with Argentinian DJ and producer Bizarrap, the organization announced Friday.

To date, Shakira is a 17-time Guinness World Records title holder.




The 14 Guinness World Records Broken:

1. First female vocalist to debut in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 with a Spanish-language track

2. Most No. 1s on Billboard's Latin Airplay chart by a female artist

3. First female artist to replace herself at No. 1 on Billboard's Latin Airplay chart

4. Most cumulative weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart by a female artist

5. Most Top 10 hits on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart by a female artist

6. Most Top 10 hits on Billboard's Latin Airplay chart by a female artist

"Music Sessions Vol. 53," which was released in January, promptly broke the internet with its lyrics dissing Shakira's ex, Spanish soccer phenom Gerard Piqué.

The two announced their split last June after 11 years together. They share two sons.

Since she made her debut in 1996 with her first Spanish language album Shakira became a huge sensation and by the time her second Spanish language album was released in 1998 Shakira had already made her herself a household name in the Spanish language market. So it wasn't surprising that in 2001 Shakira would cross over to the English language market with the hit Whenever Whatever was released in 2001. And when her English debut album Laundry Service debuted Shakira became a bonafide star and she proved that she could be successful in both languages. I first took notice of Shakira when I first heard her music at a Mexican restaurant and thought she was pretty and beautiful and I got that same album for my birthday and I was surprised at her singing in Spanish that it blew me away. But it wasn't until I learned about Disney's Zootopia that regained my interest in Shakira because she did the voice of Gazelle in the movie. It's hard to believe that Shakira now has made history in the Guinness Book Of World Records for achieving a great milestone in music that she will continue to impress the world for a long time
