Alfred Hitchcock must have been the greatest director to never receive recongnition from the academy (except for a lifetime achievement award). He made 55 films--Here are my top ten:

1. Psycho (one of the great comedies of all time)
2. North by Northwest (a funny film, with great suspence and of course, Cary Grant).
3. The Trouble with Harry ( a little known Hitchcock film but well worth seeing with Shirley Maclaine and the Beav, Jerry Mathers).
4. Lifeboat (ingenious use of space and character study).
5. Strangers on a Train (just watch Robert Walkers gaze at Farley Granger as he plays tennis).
6. To Catch a Thief (delicious blend of comedy and suspence with Grace Kelly checking out her future home).
7. Rope (this is my favorite Hich-James Stewart collaboration)
8. Shadow of a Doubt (Hitch's own favorite of his films with Joseph Cotten as a lovable, murderous uncle).
9. The Lodger (Hitch's silent masterpiece is really the Jack the Ripper tale).
10. The Birds--just think what they did to the cats!!

I would have to say Psycho. That movie rocked. I like the three sequels too. The remake they did in the 90's sucked.

Hmm... it's been a while since I thought about Hitchcock films.

It's a tough choice, but the top 10, in no particular order:

1. Psycho
2. Lifeboat
3. Strangers on a Train
4. Rope
5. The Lodger
6. The Birds
7. Rear Window
8. Dial M for Murder
9. Rebecca

10. And, of course, "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" on TV.

:D

North by Northwest. Last summer a 99 cent theater had classic movie 2/1 thing going for a month. I saw Dial M for Murder(A Perfect Murder must have been based on that), and North by Norhtwest.

Jenney, just like you I think that Psycho is real good, actually I like all Hitchcock's original films. Note, his most graphic one of all was Frenzy, the story of a serial rapist-murder. By the way, I never bothered to see this remake, I mean why bother when you have the original.

:talk: Phycho and Rope are by far my favorite Hitchcock films. The shower scene still makes me jump after seeing the movie at least a hundred times.....and the suspense the whole time during the film Rope just waiting for Jimmy Stewart to find the body....Great movies....They are must for any movie collector...

I like that movie too. It's pretty weird seeing him in color don't you think?
