It seems that I read somewhere that DG was the first TV sitcom marketed to teenagers, and I can see that.
As I have only seen it in reruns, I notice how that ALL the lines are spoken hurriedly.
Was this actually the way it was played on CBS 1959-63? Was the dialog and film sped up either to squeeze as much dialog as possible, or is this something that was just done in reruns to fit in more commercials? Or, was the acting all by design, as a “hot rod” sitcom?
If the latter, kudos to all the actors, to be able to pull it all off! I’m sure, if that was the case, that take-after-take had to be performed!
