The actor felt anything Beaver-related should be "G-rated" and voiced his issues with television in the '90s.

I certainly give him credit….but even in the TV-movie “Still the Beaver,” even Mathers himself said a “Norman-Lear-friendly” word [“I don’t give a ****….].

Wally also used a word that Lear would be okay with, IIRC.

I do seem to recall Mathers saying he didn’t like the PG movie because the new Beaver character lied to Mom & Dad’s face, something Jerry said that the original Beaver would never do.

But didn’t Beaver lie a few times right at Mom and Dad? I cannot think of occasions at this time.

Yes, I think Jerry has a brain fade on that one. Beaver's lying (more younger than older Beaver) generated a lot of his problems.

I will say that most of Beaver's lies were to outsiders like Miss Landers. Mathers had a funny way of pausing, like Beaver's brain was generating a whopper, and it took a few seconds. "My father fell out of an airplane." "My mother has pneumonia."
