I'm not talking about short-lived shows, or shows that never should have been on (Manimal, I'm looking at you :) ), or popular shows that you never liked.
Nope, this is about shows that were good at one point, but faded.
I would normally say that this is a sitcom phenomenon, but there have been a few dramas that qualify.
My sitcom nominees are Night Court, That 70s Show, and The Big Bang Theory. Happy Days and M*A*S*H qualify, too.
In all of them, the shows lasted so long that the characters were softened and less funny.
My drama nominees are NCIS and NCIS; Los Angeles.
Both have reached the part of their creative life cycles known as "Take the money and run".
