Diagonally, in the middle, or not at all?

Oh another important topic, when I ate sandwiches I cut mine down the middle...haven't had a sandwich in probably 12 yrs.

I cut my sandwiches on bread diagonally, sandwiches on rolls I cut straight.

Middle or diagonal! I can't eat a sandwich not cut in half at all! When my kids were little always diagonal for them and sometimes in fours for little hands ! :)

If you have a screw-clamp hanging with your workbench tools, it could come in handy to tame an extra-thick sandwich:

I love watercress tea sandwiches. I cut the crusts off and cut them in 4 quarters. For my egg salad or PB&J sandwiches, it's diagonal (square bread.)

There is no proper or improper way to eat a sandwich, if a person is hungry enough they may bite into the whole deal or break it in half with hands....in public use good etiquette.

This really needed a poll!

Middle, but I'm open to diagonal.

I did consider it, but I got lazy.

If a mod can add the poll feature, go for it.

Hey, I saw someone slicing a sandwich in a sitcom once, perhaps they might move this thread to the general sitcoms board, while they are at it?

Hey, I saw someone slicing a sandwich in a sitcom once, perhaps they might move this thread to the general sitcoms board, while they are at it?:wallbang Good grief, give it a rest already. Most members here understand that the General Sitcoms board discussion can be about more than just sitcoms, it is for general discussion of TV and actors/actresses. Chit Chat is for non-TV discussion, has always been that way. This sandwich thread doesn't mention TV at all and you know it. Threads about TV and actors routinely get moved to the General Sitcoms board, has been that way long before you ever joined. But no one else makes a federal case about it, there was nothing wrong with PhoenixAcres moving your thread.

I don't see anything wrong with having a little fun with the absurdity, of course you are fully entitled to disagree, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with you either, I sometimes find it nice that we have folk such as yourself to keep order.

What does it hurt being here. If it bothers a member, don't look at it. There are a lot of useless topics here in Chit Chat.

All 3. Depends on the sandwich, the bread, or if I'm just being lazy and don't want to cut it at all.

I realize that you don't eat bread, but I wanted to mention that a couple I knew who were big fans of breads lived to the ages of 92 and 96. So the anti-carb people may or may not know what they're talking about, but totally depriving yourself of bread seems pretty extreme to me.

What I typically do now that my facial hair is snow white, and I loathe getting mustard in my mustache, Sandwiches, even burgers, I'll cut into narrow strips, typically 3 linear cuts, and then halve those pieces with a single cross cut. And viola!! finger sandwiches.

I guess it creates a spectacle that some others just can't ignore in restaurant dining rooms. Every now and then some young kid will try to emulate the process. Usually to his mother's disapproval.

Oh I get plenty of carbs from my veggies and my folks ate their breads until their ends at 91 and almost 95 for dad.

To my thinking breads and other refined carbs are dead foods....I did plenty of those in my life before 12 yrs ago or so.

Oh when I get a Carl's Jr angus burger with cheese I get it on a bun and my friend gets her's in a lettuce wrap.......why do you think many places offer lettuce wrap burgers? A lot have gotten off breads....

Here is some more thoughts on the bread consumption, for decades restaurants would bring out a basket of rolls, breads etc for the table before meals were served and the people would clean out t hose baskets, and in recent years that has ceased at least where I am.

Adds mostly to our obese population.

The lettuce wraps and other choices were not offered decades ago, yet obesity has become much more prevalent. Such healthy & trendy foods are not a bad thing by any means. People are now supposedly so much better educated about foods, and SOME have "gotten off breads." I would not say "a lot" though, especially among males. Your friends likely are older women.

You must be rarely encountering people of Greek ethnicity like me, because I can assure you people of my background still go after those breads with a vengeance....!
