View Full Version : Want More Happiness??
Caroline13 02-23-2023, 01:50 PM A subject talked about on my radio this morning, Want To be Happier??
Get out and Move, Walk and/or Exercise, Get Your Blood Moving.
Stay Away From Negative People
Set out to be Positive, Get In the Habit of Making a Gratitude List, or add to
the One You Have and Just Read it Now and Then.
Get a Dog, many find more happiness when they do this, find more
purpose in their lives. Something to take care of.
Add what you do for more Happy Life.;);)

I know this sounds terminal, but I really enjoy getting away from all other people, out in a remote park district (or similar) , and just kind of becoming absorbed by nature. It gives me a sense of belonging that not even raising kids managed to do.
I say "terminal" because there are so many accounts of total misanthropes who shun civilization in favor of nature...usually disenfranchised individuals, at last fed up with the nonsense of others. Wendy O Williams perhaps being one of the more famous examples.
But, I "get" it. When I manage to put just the right set of circumstances in place, a sort of serenity takes over that I've never found any other way.
The funny thing is when strangers might observe me and think "oh, that poor old lonely man, let's go brighten his day",. my heart just sinks, losing the tranquility.
I mean, you want to be polite, but my main priority is to "service the situation" to their satisfaction and get them on their way.
Caroline13 02-23-2023, 03:24 PM Terminal ??, GJ, many love to get into nature and away from the people world .... I done many treks thru the woods etc....
Many go into Meditation practices, just find a Silent space and Do It....Meditation can LIFT people out of depression, this is Truth, I've been there yrs ago.
Caroline13 02-24-2023, 02:17 PM Another way to get more happiness is:
Help Others
Believe it or not many feel good about doing this..
GentlemanJim 02-25-2023, 02:48 AM Terminal ??,.
Yes, there is this tendency among people to assume when they see someone sitting alone, that it's not by choice.
I have people come disrupt my serenity surprisingly often, and it's generally framed as some well meaning gesture, assuming that I am not alone by choice.
We've got this "worship in the park" group that is especially bad, always trying to bring me the companionship of Jesus. I've had to get firm with them several times, assuring them that I'm not some poor lost soul hoping for someone to brighten my day.
But yeah, evidently it escapes a lot of people that I am where I am because no one else is "there"

I'm not talking about helping people sitting alone, where do you get that? I'm talking about helping others with errands, shopping, watching a pet for them, driving them somewhere, doing some c hild care, there are so many areas to help others.....but the sitting alone thing?????
I helped a few friends over the years when I could and they needed help and now I have some great friends/neighbors who help me.....

You questioned my use of the word "terminal", so I was providing context.

Rose' wine is favorite, I like a sweet red wine too, not very fond of white wine tho ! :)
I used to really love the cheap white zinfandel wines, but I find them to be WAY too sweet now, unlike the sweet red wine which is a nice subtle sweet ! ;)
Caroline13 02-26-2023, 02:42 PM I enjoyed my wine years, and got some nice deals at Trader Joe's and would look for organic wines and that was Whole FOods normally, but have lost my taste for any wines in the last probably 20 yrs....and talk about saving money too, my major luxuries are my supplements to keep me healthy and mentally alert....
Caroline13 04-16-2023, 04:30 PM Be Content With Your Oneness in Life I was going to make a separate post but for now I'll add this here.
With today's skyrocketing inflation be content with your oneness. For all you younger people who are husbandless, wifeless, childless, be content, the more to support the more stress one has.
If we'll ever see the U.S. as it was before Early 2020, Don't Know, but I don't hear great stuff.

Would you be happy if you could have all the nice things your heart desires-
the nicest furniture, the handiest appliances, and the latest technology gadgets?
If you could have all the money you would ever need to satisfy your longings-
a grand vacation monthly, a new car, a luxurious house built the way you want it - then surely you would be happy -right?
I'm sorry, you still would not be satisfied!
The Bible says:
"He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase" [Ecclesiastes 5:10]
In simple words, this means that things will not make you happy. But you, of course, may say, "Oh, that is just the Bible."
If you are honest, would you not need to admit that when you have tried to find satisfaction by getting things to please yourself, or to make yourself feel good, you have not found lasting happiness?
The problem may not be the things themselves; the problem may lie with you. A continual drive for things that satisfy places you under a cruel master.
The Bible says:
"Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in the lusts thereof" [Romans 6:12]
And again also:
"Sin shall not have dominion over you" [Romans 6:14] The problem is allowing sin to reign and have dominion over your life.
Really, you are not your own. You are responsible to a higher being. If you allow evil to rule your life, you can not be at peace with a Higher Being, which is GOD. That just may be why you have not found happiness, "TRUE HAPPINESS."
It is not just around the corner either, you have to be willing to change Masters. You may never find happiness, true happiness, until you give up yourself. Life is not all about you, it is not about nice things or lots of money. It is about serving your fellow man, and finding eternal life after this short earthly existence is over.
So, seek the one that can give you that eternal life, he promises what the true seeker shall find:
"Ask, and it shall be given you: seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you" [Matthew 7:7]
Also he says:
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" [Matthew 11:28]
Now that is happiness, TRUE HAPPINESS! That is JOY!

Caroline13 04-16-2023, 06:50 PM I don't need or want any more stuff...
What I'd like most is the hip surgery undone and my daughter reversing her foot damage from a pharma drug side effect.
No change here.
