View Full Version : Winnie the Pooh turns murderous in ‘Blood and Honey’ horror movie
Pooh, Piglet, Kanga, Roo, Owl, Eeyore and Christopher Robin all became public domain on Jan. 1 last year when the copyright on A.A. Milne’s 1926 book,“Winnie-the-Pooh,” with illustrations by E.H. Shepard, expired.
Pooh — newly freed from copyright — is now violently terrorizing a remote house of young women.

Torgo 02-21-2023, 06:53 PM The filmmakers already announced they were making a sequel before the first one was even released.
I'll probably watch it out of curiosity.
For something kid-themed turned into R-rated horror I did enjoy The Banana Splits Movie.

This is the part of the story (below) that confused me. Wouldn’t Disney, DC Comics (whoever it is that owns them nowadays), Warner Brothers all have their respective properties locked up legal-wise?
>>>In the next 10 years, some of the most iconic characters in pop culture — including Bugs Bunny, Batman and Superman — will pass into public domain, or at least their most early incarnations.
Many have next Jan. 1 circled. That’s when the original version of Mickey Mouse, from “Steamboat Willie,” becomes public domain. It will be open season on the face of the Walt Disney Co. — or at least that early whistling variety of Mickey.<<<
Bonniegirl 02-22-2023, 12:35 AM OMG !! Not a sinister Winnie the Pooh !!! :eek::confused::crazy::D
Hawkee 02-22-2023, 03:07 AM How in the world can they make a horror movie out of Winnie The Pooh when it's been an iconic book in history? This thing with turning books into horror movies I cannot figure out why they do it. As we saw with the computer game American McGee's Alice which is a horror game based on Alice In Wonderland by Lewis Carroll people seem to think that making horror movies based on popular books and fairy tales seem to be huge in movie trends today. I don't know how this new Winnie The Pooh movie will do but I have a feeling it will flop when it debuts in theaters. I mean what will be next a horror film of Goldilocks And The Three Bears with the three bears terrorized by an evil Goldilocks? Or a scary Peter Pan?

Yeah, I'm not sure how that works, maybe just the books themselves are public domain, but anything actually made my Disney can't be copied.

Making fairytales in to horror movies has been around for decades. We've had a horror spin on Goldilocks already in the 80s anthology film Deadtime Stories, which also featured a horror slant on Red Riding Hood. And Red Riding Hood was made into horror before that with the Angela Lansbury movie Company Of Wolves.
Then again, most fairytales were already dark and horrorfying before they became Disney-fied.

I like to picture some oblivious parents out there scrolling thru Fandango going "Look honey, a new Winnie The Pooh movie. Let's take the kids"
Mr. Television 02-22-2023, 08:26 PM First the Banana Splits ...now Winnie the Pooh. What is this world turning into?

I just watched a trailer of this Pooh horror movie , looks pretty intense  , wouldn't mind seeing it but it's not playing at any theaters near me !
I do want to see that other bear movie " Cocaine Bear" ! That looks pretty cool, dark humor ! Hoping to see it next week. That is playing near me ! ;)
Torgo, what are your thoughts on " Cocaine Bear"? Seems like something you might like ?
I finally saw it. I honestly don't know what to say about this one

Watch the unhinged trailer for "Mickey's Mouse Trap." (https://ew.com/mickey-mouse-horror-movie-trailer-character-copyright-ends-8421280)
Woo hoo! Worst picture!!
Blood and Honey won an impressive (if that's the word) five Razzies: Worst Picture, Worst Screen Couple for Pooh and Piglet, and Worst Remake, Rip-Off, or Sequel, with Rhys Frake-Waterfield winning Worst Director and Worst Screenplay.

Dead2009 03-10-2024, 12:12 PM I liked the first one as cheesy and cringy as it set out to be. Ill definitely be giving the sequel a watch, as the masks are better looking.
Torgo 03-10-2024, 02:12 PM Now you'll have this to look forward to:
Bampire, a Horror-Comedy Based on Bambi, is Coming Soon (https://comicbook.com/movies/news/bampire-a-horror-comedy-based-on-bambi-is-coming-soon/?fbclid=IwAR0WIkIK0ig-eaECVhGWqeSL_h3TA284kiCAKPZlkD3Ij7ra1PHdYxYnHdY)
Dude111 03-10-2024, 04:57 PM I'll probably watch it out of curiosity. I wouldnt watch it for 2 seconds.....

At least that one makes sense. It’s about time Bambi got revenge on all the :censored:’s who killed his mother.
Dude111 03-10-2024, 05:55 PM Hey opus your onto something buddy!!
I saw the sequel. This series is, how you say?, quite graphic.
I also recently saw the public domain Mickey Mouse horror movie. That one was, how you say?, quite lame.
