Olivia Rodrigo is turning 20 today. Rodrigo, who was born and grew up in Southern California’s Inland Empire, began taking voice lessons at six, and also learned piano and guitar. She first became known as one of the stars of Disney Channel’s Bizaardvark.
In 2021, Rodrigo released her debut album, Sour. She wrote or co-wrote all the tracks on the album, including the lead single, “Drivers License.” It won the Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance, and was nominated for Song of the Year and Record of the Year.
Rodrigo made her acting debut in the direct-to-video film An American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success in 2015. A year later, she began starring in Bizaardvark, which ran for three seasons.
In 2019, Rodrigo began starring as Nini Salazar-Roberts on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, another Disney production. She was a regular for the show’s first two seasons and made some recurring appearances on season 3.
Rodrigo won three Grammys at last year’s awards ceremony. In addition to the Best Pop Solo Performance honor, she won Best New Artist, and Best Pop Vocal Album for Sour.
