The show's competition was Wonderful world of Disney on NBC and Wait Until Your Father gets Home on ABC
The CBS affiliate in Buffalo, WIVB, decided not to air the show
After the first airing the show ranked #59 out of 69 shows
The second episode didnt do any better with a ranking of #58 out of 69 shows
By the end of October the show fell to #65 and some CBS executives wanted to dump the show
It was announced on November 10, 1972 that CBS planned to cancel the show in January of 1973.
CBS was hoping to replace Anna and the King with the Jackson 5 Variety Show but it didnt generate better ratings
The show's last airing was actually on New year's Eve, Dec 31, 1972
