Hayden Panettiere’s brother Jansen has tragically died at 28 just two days after he proudly showed off his latest artwork. BBC Heroes star Hayden's brother died this weekend.

According to TMZ, the cause of his death is currently unclear. He was found dead at his apartment in upstate New York, according to reports.

He is known for his roles in films The Perfect Game, Ice Age: The Meltdown, The Martial Arts Kid and How High 2. His elder sister is actress Hayden, who starred in Scream 4 and Heroes.


In 2008, Panettiere was nominated for a Young Artist Award at the Young Artist Awards for Best Performance in a TV Movie, Miniseries or Special by a Leading Young Actor for The Last Day of Summer.


In 2019, Jansen guest starred in the AMC network series The Walking Dead and co-starred in MTV's How High 2. He also had cameos in Major Crimes.

Hayden and Jansen worked together in 2004's Tiger Cruise and 2005's Racing Stripes. Hayden, who starred in Nashville and Heroes, would often share snaps of her younger brother on social media, showing fans that the siblings were close.

In 2021, the star shared a sweet snap with Jansen. She took the selfie, writing: "Sibling time at the amaaaaazing market in #Tahiti #OceanDiaries @jrpanettiere." Jansen's last Instagram post was a photo of art which he had dubbed his "personal favourite."

Jansen's family are yet to confirm the news of his passing publicly but fans have already posted "RIP" messages in the comments of his Instagram posts.

Jansen Panettiere, the late actor and younger brother of "Nashville‘s" Hayden Panettiere, died of an enlarged heart, according to a new statement from his family.

Jansen’s death was first reported on Feb. 20; he was just 28 years old.




In a statement obtained by ABC News on Monday, the actor’s parents and sister revealed that “Jansen’s sudden passing was due to cardiomegaly (enlarged heart), coupled with aortic valve complications.”

“Jansen’s heart could be seen in his eyes, and his charm in his brilliant, engaging smile; his soul in his masterful and revealing paintings, and the joy of life in his dry wit,” the family said.

“His charisma, warmth, compassion for others, and his creative spirit will live forever in our hearts and in the hearts of all whom he encountered… We sincerely appreciate the outpouring of love and support towards our family as we navigate this unthinkable loss, and ask that we be gifted our privacy during this time of mourning. We love you so much Jansen and you will be in our hearts forever.”
