This was the bicentennial year where the United States had just celebrated its 200th birthday. Continuing from my 1996 and 1986 polls, regular movie spots are not included. Shows like Columbo and Qunicy, M.E. that were listed in a movie block are included.

I voted for Columbo, Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, M*A*S*H, Charlie's Angels, Welcome Back Kotter, Barney Miller, The Waltons, Hawaii Five-O, The Rockford Files, The Jeffersons, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart Show, and Emergency! It would have been nice to see this variety show era that had Sonny and Cher, Captain and Tennille, and Donny and Marie. Now today we are forever stuck in the hip hop and rap era of dreck.

Wonder Woman should also have been listed with 11 World War II era episodes aired in the 1976-77 season as highly rated "specials" on ABC. (The TV movie pilot and 2 "specials" previously aired in the 1975-76 season -- collectively these 14 shows are now generally referred to as "season one" -- too bad they didn't get a full order for this superior version of the show before it went modern on CBS in 1977).

I was not yet old enough to attend kindergarten in 1976 but I did watch many of these shows in reruns and syndication. I voted for Kojak, Columbo, Quincy M.E., Barney Miller and The Jeffersons.
