I scored 2 points. I've never sent or received a fax. I had a printer that had a fax machine built in, but I never had the need to send or receive one directly myself. I've never had a MySpace account.

I scored a 2: Never used a Walkman and was never on MySpace.

I had never sent a fax until just a couple of years ago, when the IRS asked that I fax info from a charitable organization. So I would've scored 3.

Some of those I still do, like sending postcards, listening to music CDs, & writing paper checks. Also I have a detailed area paper roadmap I refer to once in a while.

I remember when facsimile machines required you to mount the document to be sent on a rotating drum, that spun like 200 times to send one 8.5 X 11 sheet of text. When they came out with linear feedunits, I felt like we had entered the space age.

I've also used "radio fax", which is an even bigger dinosaur.
I could plug a short wave radio into the sound card on my PC, and receive radio transmission from an overhead satellite that was sending "weather satellite" imagery to government weather offices, basically seeing the source data used to make images that would be on the tv weather shows later in the day.

Since the satellites were not in stationary orbit, they passed overhead several times per day, and you had to listen to this specific frequency until you heard the bird transmitting, to get the image you wanted.
Tedious, to say the least.

Used a floppy disc
Listened to a boombox (I might need to take this one off, because I've probably heard one someplace where I didn't know it)
Had a MySpace account
Had an AOL Email address
Accessed the internet by dial-up

I've done it all except for 2 of them - send a fax and use a typewriter.

I've used a word processor which was pretty much a typewriter with a screen. This was the mid-90s and I remember I was one of the few students who handed in typed homework assignments.

I've never directly sent a fax, but I've been to places that do it (Check Cashing) when I had to send one out.

A score of 10 seems high. You would have to be very young and didn't get to fully experience the 1980s or 1990s. I think most people over 30 could have accidentally done at least 10 of them once or twice.

I've done ALL those things, plus:

- installed the original version of Wordstar from a set of 8" floppy disks
- used a Wang dedicated word processor machine - basically an early computer that was designed to be ONLY used for its proprietary office software
- loaded programs into a computer with actual punch cards
- messed up a computer program by dropping a box of punch cards and not being able to figure out what order they were in
- bought and listened to music on 8-track and reel-to-reel tapes
- sent and received teletype machine messages
- logged on to pre-internet government bulletin boards to access and receive data
- logged on to THIS site with dial-up
- enjoyed a lovely fondue pot whilst sitting on a green shag carpet

so, by my calculation I am estimating my score to be a cautious -12 .

Yeah I'm still in my 20s. I've never:
1. Used a rotary phone
2. Used a floppy disc
3. Taken photos with a film camera
4. Used a Walkman
5. Sent or received a fax
6. Had a Myspace account
7. Had an AOL email
8. Used a phone book
9. Sent a postcard
10. Used a paper check

The only one I have never had was a MySpace account.

I dont know about AOL. When the internet first became popular in the 1990's, AOL was a big thing. I think my first email address was through MSN around 2002. I have had only two email addresses the past twenty years and have had the same one for well over fifteen years.

AOL's "big thing" was the CD rom they sent out, where all any windows user had to do was insert the CD, follow the on-screen instructions, produce the credit card info on cue....and voila! you had internet access.

I was an OS/2 user, so those CDs were of no use to me. I remember configuring my first internet account "by hand" in my computer's settings, and it was excruciating.

MySpace, otoh, just seemed like a venue for the vain to me.

I miss MySpace. I used to spend hours and hours and HOURS (and did I say, HOURS?) on this site searching for new bands to check out. :lol:

I've been wondering that about you. just how old? I have no issue about telling my age and I have a friend who will not tell her age, she's a few yrs older than me...one can find a person's age online in records...just have to have the full name.

Oh how interesting, I just looked up a fellow classmate from home town and found his wife just died, it was in his records....
