View Full Version : How weird. Poster removed ALL of his likes from my posts! :/
Janice Johnson 02-17-2023, 12:09 PM So, on another Website, I am writing a Fictional Axl Rose story and my biggest Supporter who liked my Chapters all of a sudden removed all the likes he gave my Chapters. I should have known something was up when my thread count went up 200 views in just one day. Turns out, those views were from him removing all of the likes he gave my Chapters. I even Private Messaged him to ask if I did something wrong for him to suddenly remove all of the likes, but he ignored my PM.
GentlemanJim 02-17-2023, 01:02 PM Is it possible that he was banned? I've participated on some boards that were part of a larger "community" of forums, where if a particular member was banned globally, then all traces of their contributions to all community forums would go *poof*.
It was odd, because if your yourself chose to end your membership, all your posts would stay, and there was nothing you could do to eliminate them. But if a global admin decided you needed to go, then EVERYTHING disappeared with you

No, he wasn't banned. He's still an Active Member to this day, which is baffling that he all of a sudden out of the blue removed ALL his likes from my posts. He even encouraged my Chapters and gave me valuable feedback, so for him to suddenly remove ALL of his likes from my Chapters is very weird and confusing.
Dude111 02-18-2023, 02:38 AM PM him again nicely asking if you made him mad somehow......
Good luck :)

I sent him another PM asking if he was mad at me. Hopefully he doesn't think I turned into a crazy stalker or something. I think a couple of PM's is sufficient however. If he doesn't answer this second one, I'll know it's time to stop PMing him.
GentlemanJim 02-18-2023, 01:34 PM "Likes", and "reputation" are a pretty superficial benchmark, IMO, so I really wouldn't lose much sleep over it. So much of it is fostered by pandering anyway.
You can never be sure, you might have said just one little thing that rubbed him the wrong way, and he decided to retaliate? People look for reasons to be offended, so he may have been a trainwreck waiting to happen, anyway?
Dude111 02-18-2023, 06:47 PM Im so sorry he is being mean :(
Janice Johnson 02-19-2023, 04:30 AM Im so sorry he is being mean :(
He read the second PM and didn't answer. I'm not sending him any more PM's unless something changes. I don't know what his problem is with me , especially since he used to be so nice to me. :(
robyrob 02-19-2023, 11:32 AM he's probably the REAL Axl Rose and was just worried that you were getting TOO CLOSE

About the real Axl Rose, I think the only things he'd be upset about is my Fictional Axl Rose being Bisexual having a sexual and romantic relationship with his Boyfriend(Real life Axl is Straight,)
), my Fictional Axl Rose's constant lying(Real life Axl is always honest, my Fictional Axl Rose has told countless lies, the first being he wasn't Axl Rose when Fans of Guns N'Roses approached him,), and my Fictional Axl Rose hiding in a crawl space when he was on the run for Assault and damage of property (My Fictional Axl Rose punched a Paparazzi and broke his camera when he followed him around, snapping unwanted pictures of him without his permission despite asking him to stop. The real Axl has punched Paparazzi for stuff like this, ;) but he definitely didn't go hide in a crawl space like a trapped rat afterwards.

Well, right there I think you likely solved your own puzzle. Lightning rod issues tend to polarize people to the point they question who they are willing to be friends with.
I've seen a lot of people "turn" on the issue of homosexuality.
Gays who will not tolerate "phobes" as well as the converse. So, perhaps your "friend" discovered you to be on the wrong side of some revelation that you made, and did not want to risk a "guilty by association" type exposure?

I think you figured it out. The "friend" dumped her once the story took a bisexual turn. Still, he could have had the decency to tell her what the reason was.
Janice Johnson 02-21-2023, 11:21 PM He also liked the Chapters where Billy and my Fictional Axl Rose were dating. I'm thinking maybe he was dared to like my chapters to falsely make me think he thought I was a good writer or something and promised money for doing so, did so, and got paid, and then abruptly removed all of his likes from my Chapters and then ignored me.
GentlemanJim 02-21-2023, 11:27 PM The following old meme comes to mind

And it's kind of a twist on the concept of cancel culture, prescribing that if you claim some one as your friend, somehow that means you must endorse all of their beliefs....which is BS, what the argument tries to do is encourage us to disown friends who own/sponsor unpopular beliefs.
AKA "you can't be my friend if you have friends who believe__________". seeking to make the holder of the unpopular belief a pariah.
And many people do conduct their affairs that way. They won't be friends with anyone who feels differently than they do about certain priorities.

You believe he got paid for patronizing you? Why would anyone want to hurt you so much that they would be willing to pay to see it? That's a pretty big leap

Your theory does not sound likely.
Janice Johnson 02-22-2023, 04:55 AM Your theory does not sound likely.
on that Website, I am a polarizing Poster there. Some Posters like me, other Posters rag and drag me. So, that's why I had the theory of him being dated/paid to like my chapters to make it look like he falsely actually liked my Chapters and then after getting paid he removed ALL his likes from my Chapters and then ignored me.
Furienna 02-28-2023, 07:18 PM Yeah, I've got a similar mystery about my story.
It is that I don’t get as many likes or comments as other writers in the same fandom do.
Maybe my potential readers think that I repeat too much from the movie?
Maybe I don't give them enough violence and sex? (That seems to give other stories lots of attention.)
Maybe I haven't found the right place to make promotion for it?
Who knows?

Some people are just flat out and plain mean. On a now deleted Website, I wrote a story that I thought was good, but it got ragged and dragged so hard instead and at least one Poster said something like,"Thank God NO one is claiming this story is goo, but are ragging and dragging it like it deserves. . It's one of the worst stories I have ever read. It's a shaitty story."
Maybe that's the case with your story, a good story that ended up getting ragged and dragged instead? :/
GentlemanJim 03-01-2023, 10:12 AM There have been quite a few TV show episodes over the years, where a specific episode revolves around one of the central characters deciding to write a book and get it published. Frequently lampooning all the hoops the author is willing to jump through in order to get their work on store shelves.
Since these tv shows are written by professional writers, I've always assumed there was a touch of intended satire, portraying the frustrations the shows authors have experienced, themselves.
For a tv show writer, I'd think it would be especially difficult to come up with new ideas, week after week, year after year.....and clearly some very prominent shows have veered wildly off their central theme to give the writers fresh turf.
I'd say if you have that many people telling you that your work is trash, you must be doing something right, or nobody would even be paying attention.

Well, it is not like I've gotten any negative critcism like that.
But it doesn't feel good to be almost ignored either.

Oh... They IGNORED your writing. I was under the impression that they were ragging and dragging your writing. My bad. ;)

I get a hit (that means that someone looked at it) now and then.
But I get no more kudos and no comments.
Janice Johnson 04-08-2023, 12:12 PM The popular saying is true. "When one door closes, another one opens." :) A new fan of my Fictional Axl Rose has come along and she is like,"I love your Fictional Axl Rose stories, you wrote him so succinctly, and it feels like I am reading the REAL Axl Rose's thoughts! You nailed his character and personality to a T! :D Also, the first Fan who abandoned my Fictional Axl Rose just put ,"like," on all of the Chapters he liked, but the new Fan actually gives different reactions to the Chapters. For example, the first Fan "liked," the Chapter where it was revealed that Axl's Friend tried to sell him out to the Cops for $5,000 and Axl was understandably devastated. The new Fan actually put the :( reaction, which is the appropriate reaction to finding out someone's friend tried to sell him out to the Cops for $5,000. She's a much better Fan than the first Fan who removed all his likes and then abandoned the Fictional Axl Rose. :)

That is the kind of reaction, that I want more of.

:) this new fan not only encourages my Fictional Axl Rose story, she actively comments on the chapters! :) She's not just saying stuff like, "Janice, your story is really good. You're an excellent writer," she actively comments on the chapters like saying stuff like, "Andy stole money from Axl? Wait till Axl catches Andy's thieving ass and kicks his ass for stealing from him!" She proves she actually reads the chapters and isn't just politely saying stuff like,"Good story!":)
