Hey Three's Company Gang,
As a fan, I've just tried something I've been wanting to do for a while now. I'm in the digital video business and have taped the latest Three's Company episodes off of Nick At Night, removed the commercials, trimmed them from start to finish and put three episodes on one DVD-R. So far I have about 5 of them, as of this writing.
Here's my question - I am not trying to do anything illegal, but I'm interested in putting these episodes on this format for others as well. Would anyone be interested in collecting these "Three-Episode-Per-Disc" Three's Company DVDs as they are created? I haven't established a price, but it would basically cover my time and materials for the transfer. Seeing as 3's Company does not currently exist on DVD, I don't see any harm in this, however, if anyone feels different or knows differently, please let me know.
Some things to consider...
1. I can't guarantee that the episodes will always be produced in order, however three episodes that follow each other will always be together on one disc.
2. These are not completed and will take some time - I tape them to high quality VHS tape, then capture them into my computer and proceed to transfer to DVD from there. The process is quite timely, but the reward is Three's Company on DVD which should last about 70 years (Shelf life of a video disc).
3. There may be delays between discs, especially if there is a high demand, but I will work hard for the true fans, especially because I want these for myself. But if you're willing to pay for my time and materials, I feel you won't be disappointed. I have several discs already and they come with a motion menu which has a preview of each episode that you may select along with the theme song that plays in the background on the Main Menu.
4. Not all DVD players will play DVD-R's flawlessly. Please check to see if yours does. If you are curious enough to know what you might be getting, tell me and I can send you one I've done already for test - but again, I will need to charge you for the time and materials.
5. These would not be mass produced and are burned one at a time - I would not be able to offer a bulk order discount. Each and every disc would have the same set price.
If anyone's interested, please let me know at: bmurf6873@yahoo.com and I'll have payment details for you.
I am really interested in preserving this show and this is a step not a lot of folks would take - but I have the tools, knowledge and time for it so why not share the joy!
