Just heard that both of the local Tuesday Morning stores in my area are set to close in conjunction with their impending bankruptcy. I used to love spending a rainy afternoon shopping over all the whatnots in their stores. Shame it had to come to this

Looks like the Tuesday Morning store in our town is still going, how strong I don't know. Our thriving beach town is a skelton of what it was and more closings since the virus.

I had some FUN visits to this store when I was still buying Stuff...

The other store that I had some Fun in the day, was Goodwill Store, lots of bargains and often some real quality finds. Salvation Army store too but it smelled in there...

The history of the store says 850 stores in the U.S. and headquarters are in Texas, never heard of it until it arrived here over 25 yrs ago. Perhaps it only opens in somewhat larger cities....is your city a large one?


Oh I just found this info on our store closing..I can only believe due to all the lockdowns and the last few years of damage that has been done.

They claim to be doing a deep discount clearance at the stores to be closed, so now might be a good time to visit.

I always saw them as a place to "accessorize" your living room, accents, throw pillows, doilies, stuff like that. They have considerably more, but those seemed to be the items they offered that I had the most use for.

I actually thought this chain had packed it in already (the one in my area closed a few years back). They filed for bankruptcy on February 14, 2023, this is the second filing, in the last filing they went from 850 stores to 490, wonder what if anything will be left after this filing.

Well, I tell you guys what I think is going on. Too many businesses were dependent upon the availability of borrowing cheap money. (BUT) With the Fed hiking interest rates, that has dried up, and instead of borrowing round XXXX to perpetuate the cashflow, they had to pay the piper. And the Piper drained them dry.

I had never even heard of Tuesday Morning until me and my mom were shopping at a mall during Christmas and the mall had a Tuesday Morning store and my mom and I decided to have a look to see what it was. And to my surprise Tuesday Morning reminded me of Big Lots with a mix of Factory2U and I thought it was cool. The late Lauren Bacall was the spokeswoman for Tuesday Morning and appeared in commercials for Tuesday Morning promoting sales in the 90's. It's a shame that Tuesday Morning is going broke because they are one of the underrated bargain/closeouts stores and those stores people should visit more because you can find better deals on almost anything you can imagine than at Walmart and Target. I think the popularity of Dollar Tree and 99 Cents Plus And Family Dollar stores really hurt the bargain closeout stores and that's caused Tuesday Morning to go broke and with newcomer DD's Discounts becoming popular I wonder if bargain closeout stores will go out of style in the future? I also wonder now that Tuesday Morning is now bankrupt I wonder if Big Lots will be next because you hardly hear nothing of Big Lots much anymore

I hadn't heard anything about the Tuesday Morning in my area, in Mishawaka, Indiana (adjacent to South Bend) -- but it's on the list. I bought a couple of decent Christmas gifts there this past season, but business seems to have really dropped off. A relatively new Home Goods store up the road does brisk business, so the stiff competition doesn't help.

Edit: A "Store Closing" email from them arrived in my box after 7 am, so my local one will be no more as well. :(

BBB is on it's way out, Big Lots in our town went yrs ago to make room for Whole Paycheck Whole Foods....it's ironic that next door to this mega Whole Foods there is a busy 99cent store.....it's good that the poor and homeless can go into 99cent store to stay alive..

Wow - for that price, they should send an employee to your place to make sandwiches for you.

There's a Whole Foods in my area (in a building originally put up by Borders). I don't see any reason to shop there, unless I get some doctor-imposed dietary restrictions. And even then, there are comparable foods available elsewhere at lower prices.

Whole Foods was always on the higher price side but the quality and healthier foods was the reason but now since the Reset of our world/country, everyone has gone nuts to keep many from eating.

I have 2 good friends who shop mostly Whole Foods and they are financially able to.

On Tuesday Morning stores closing, I'm hearing more calling on my radio programs, how they will miss T.M. I enjoyed many nice trips to our T. M. store and got some nice quality stuff for low prices...Just another Sign of The Times. I'm sure happy that I enjoyed a lot of the good ole times.

The Moody Blues are my favorite band. Probably the most unique. Justin Hayward has a channel on YouTube and he has a new band who plays acoustic renderings of the songs.

The only song of theirs I dislike and it’s only the lyrics is “Timothy Leary is Dead”. I don’t know why they made a song glorifying that creep. But even then, the song is otherwise pretty boss.

I wouldn't wait too long. I recall having similar ambitions when Sears liquidated, and after two rounds of shallow markdowns, some outfit that specialized in plundering inventories of failed retailers..... bought the remainders, all as one lot.

I guess these folks sell to people like Burlington Coat Factory, or local thrift and salvage stores. The benefit to the faltering retailer is they don't have to keep the lights and A/C on while they pursue ever slimmer margins...not to mention cutting the payroll sooner.

I was actually very disappointed in the case of Sears, I went there one day and someone was loading racks full of merchandise onto Ryder rental trucks...public no longer permitted inside.

And Timothy Leary had an almost messianic perch in 1960s counterculture. I'd assume the Moody Blues name-dropped him in a song as a way to gain "street creds" with the "tune in, turn on, and drop out" segment of their listener base. :cool:

A small shop I wanted to visit today was unexpectedly closed, so I headed over to Tuesday Morning as it's not far, to avoid a wasted trip.

The entire back half of the store had been stripped of merchandise, just empty racks remained. And the front half was much thinner on product than usual as well. Nearly everything left was only 10% off, just certain things at 20.

I have a strong suspicion that most of the missing goods were shipped away, to add to the stock of their other locations that are not closing. I can't see practically two-thirds of the items having disappeared that fast just from people buying -- especially with only 10% off of most, and the place having been like a ghost town. Adios T. M.

If I was allowed to take anything I wanted from Whole Foods for free (if not allowed to resell it) except for the meats and the wine, there is nothing I would take.

Trader Joes is the same way, basically a very similar store.

Niche marketing I guess has sufficient appeal to merit the effort? Stores that sell "bling" so that people can dress up their smartphones seem silly to me, yet appear to do surprisingly good business.

So, if there is a buck there to be made, someone will always show up to chase it.

There are many many people who want to shop foods with as little chemicals as they can find....WF's fit's that one, a store we have here The Coop, the same, and Trader Joes is very different, many many foods from around the world are sold at TJ's.....
