Even though not a sitcom I was thinking that Nancie Phillips on Laugh-in would be one.

Even though not a sitcom I was thinking that Nancie Phillips on Laugh-in would be one.

They seemed to have a weird desire to duplicate Joanne Worley instead of merely replacing her. Eventually Alan Sues took over much of the Worley shtick.

Tough to pick a forgettable one, because a lot of the worst ones disappear quickly. John from Taxi didn't make much of an impression. Maybe the Damon Evans version of Lionel Jefferson, or Jenny?

Oh you know, what's his name. Him and that one lady from that other show.

Actually they were my favorites. So I can't count them for this list.

Obviously Chuck Cunningham from Happy Days.

Since the question was cast member not character then we're counting all three actors who played Chuck Cunningham?
The character "Chuck Cunningham " is mentioned a lot. Almost like a cultural icon. So not really forgettable. But the actors probably are.

From this website they noted three actors. I thought there were only 2.

Charles "Chuck" Cunningham is the oldest son of Howard Cunningham and Marion Cunningham and the older brother of Richie Cunningham and Joanie Cunningham. He was played by three different actors. In the "Love and the Happy Days" pilot, he was played by Ric Carrott, but in the first two seasons of Happy Days, he was played by Gavan O'Herlihy, who was replaced by Randolph Roberts for two episodes in the second season.

Joey on Dennis the Menace was Dennis Friend in the 1st season on a few episodes.

Leslie was the maide before Stephanie on Newhart
Kirk owned the Minute Man Cafe before Larry Darryl and Darryl took over on Newhart.

Chester & Tooey was Wally’s friends the 1st season of Leave It To Beaver.

Lana on Three's Company.

Granted she wasn't an original cast member, but when she became one, she wasn't interesting and quickly written off of the series.

As for original cast members written off, on Step By Step, they had Carol's mom and sister. They were removed from the show without explanation, but my belief is likely because their were fat ladies. Now some view it fine to embrace it and realize fat comedians can be funny, but not say the word fat.

Anyways, the writers tried to focus on the grown kids and popularize Staci Keanan, into something bigger than she ended up being in the end.

For cast members that stayed throughout the series, but were forgettable, maybe it'd go to the less popular kids on the family sitcoms:
Ben Seaver, Growing Pains.
Mallory and Jennifer, Family Ties.
Bud, Married w Children.

On an ensemble cast without kids
Cliff, Cheers
