Like one of those nights where you have been out drinking all night, and before you go home somone talks you into drinking one of those syrupy sweet trend coctails, and you get about half way home and blow chow thinking "just swell, pineapple and whiskey, what a combo"
Zoneboy 02-13-2023, 03:22 PM I tries those a few weeks ago and I actually liked them believe it or not.

Well, to each their own and all that, "individual preferences" and such.
But it's a rare food that I do not like, yet these were one of them. I love chili and lime coated snacks, so I expected these to be a treat.....but the fruity sweet aspect just brought back bad memories.
Zoneboy 02-13-2023, 03:44 PM Of course everyone's taste buds aren't the same. For example, I love black olives, banana peppers and mushrooms on my pizza, but my girlfriend can't stand any of them.
GentlemanJim 02-13-2023, 03:46 PM They sell at twice the price of the pork rinds that I generally buy, so I was expecting to thrill over the experience. not to be, unfortunately
GentlemanJim 02-13-2023, 03:49 PM I really love the pineapple "dried fruit" snacks, better than papaya, apple, or most of the rest...but I'm not a big fan of pineapple on pizza, either....I can eat "Hawaiian Pizza", but can't envision me ever ordering it when there is any other choice.

I like how black olives go on a pizza made with ranch-style sauce. Green peppers also.
Good to see The Family Circus here, I'll give equal time to Dolly:

Babalu 02-13-2023, 07:55 PM I don't eat that stuff.
And it took all my willpower to call it "stuff".

No pork rinds? Man, I would miss that.
So, are you able to eat cheeseburgers? Or is that another no-no?

Well,...it's gotten 3 people who I thought had me on "ignore" to respond, so it's not exactly a lost cause.

I eat hamburgers occasionally but I hate cheeseburgers.
I love cheese but not on hamburgers.

Well, on the one hand, all of us are different, we don't all like the same things, if we did then my favorite canned soups would always be sold out at the local market....so as they say "viva la differance".
But even more relevant, my experience with these things were so nasty, that I wanted to warn people off, to not be seduced by the clever packaging....these things are pretty bad.
The wording I chose in the thread title was indicative of this, in a baiting, sarcastic way. Sort of like when a politician hires a bunch of riff-raff to go out and tell people to vote for his opponent...it has exactly the opposite effect. Called "the self hanging sponsor".

Well, the designer food companies can count on you to push their stuff.
Dude111 02-15-2023, 02:23 PM They taste like vomitYuck,ill pass!!
Caroline13 02-15-2023, 03:07 PM I have in years past bought a few bags of Pork Rinds (plain) and they were ok, did the job for a junk food craving, now I work extra hard NOT to buy anything in a bag that I can sit or lay and put the stuff in my mouth...
These days my addiction seems to be Homestyle Vanilla Ice Cream....may be getting some tomorrow depending how much if any they raised the price. The store where I buy changes prices every Wed... I can make my decision based on price increases.
Well I just checked and the Ice Cream store brand and it's good, is down to $3.99 for 1.5 qt size and last couple weeks it was $5.99 and 5.39....so I guess I've made a decision.
GentlemanJim 02-15-2023, 03:17 PM Well, the designer food companies can count on you to push their stuff.
Well, a big portion of the humor in this is a result of how normally I find pork rinds such a delight, many different seasonings added, and until now I'd never found any variant not to my liking...."S'all good" you might say.
So upon seeing these new in the store the other day, and their comparatively high price compared to the others,...I was thinking "oh boy, I'l bet this will be great"
Which, when the first taste was so YUK, I was awed in disbelief. Even tried them the next day, and day after that, just trying to be objective.....AND THEY ARE JUST PLAIN NASTY.
So, i'd be real interested if anyone thought otherwise. And sure enough, Zoneboy likes them. But I;ll bet if 20 more of you tried them, at least 15 would agree with me. That's why this thread. ;)
But then don't forget, I'm also the one who tried to interest yall in trying those candies I had a few months back that were like 99% cornstarch, and the following day it was like someone squirted superglue up my bum...:D
I'm a sadist....:happyface
GentlemanJim 02-15-2023, 03:24 PM These, in contrast are pretty good...no piggy...made from wheat.....so even Babalu might enjoy them

MrCleveland 02-16-2023, 04:23 PM I hate mango-habanero anything! I can handle anything with cayenne or chili flakes, heck...I even had chili chocolate...a good balance of sweet meets heat. Another good concept of sweet meets heat is jezebel sauce...two fruit jellies with pepper flakes and horseradish. It tastes good on pork.
GentlemanJim 02-16-2023, 05:33 PM Welcome back Mr C, we missed you.
