View Full Version : For Those Who Did Not Watch the Super Bowl
icecream 02-13-2023, 01:28 AM What was your alternative viewing lineup tonight? I saw the new episode of All Creatures Great and Small at 9:00 on PBS, followed by the 2010 remake of Ice Castles at 10:00 on BYU TV. Both of those were commercial free. I also saw a good Everybody Loves Raymond episode that was new to me at 8:30 on IFC. It was the season 4 finale with flashbacks to why Robert and his wife before Amy got divorced.
treky 02-13-2023, 03:38 AM I watched ALL IN THE FAMILY, ED SULLIVAN and CAROL BURNETT on ME TV, then the 11:00 news, SEINFELD on MY NETWORK TV, BARNEY MILLER on FE TV, then my DVD of Sherlock Holmes
Theda Bara 02-13-2023, 04:29 AM I was fast asleep during the Super Bowl, which shows how much I care about sports or sporting events.
Dude111 02-13-2023, 05:17 AM I was sleeping.......
ponytail 02-13-2023, 06:15 AM TCM for me.
Janice Johnson 02-13-2023, 06:38 AM I was surfing the internet, absolutely no interest in watching The Superbowl. I didn't even know who was playing until last night. The last time I was interested in a Superbowl was the Superbowl(s) right before Covid became a huge problem, so it was either 2019 Superbowl or 2020(February 2020 Covid was spreading, but it hadn't caused mass Shutdowns and Lockdowns yet and we were still pretty much living like it was still 2019. Mass Shutdowns and Lockdowns happened around mid March 2020, like starting around March 15th)
dakert 02-13-2023, 09:22 AM I watched Charlie's Angels season 3 opener Angels In Vegas
stevea 02-13-2023, 11:11 AM I listened to the Kim Komando radio show and did a Sunday crossword puzzle.
Caroline13 02-13-2023, 01:58 PM NPR has a lot of interesting Human Interest segments on Sat and Sundays and I learn a lot from tuning in on the weekends. Saturday night they have a 2 hr Storytelling from probably 6-7 people each hour. True stories of ordinary people's lives and what a great job they do at storytelling. Lots of laughs and some tears from some.
Steve, I don't have an interest in Kim as my interest in tech is so low, but Kim knows her stuff...
Just heard Dan Bongino opening his Monday AM program and he watches none either, has no interest in all the noise of it all. Dan and I are like soul mate thinkers...
MISST3 02-13-2023, 07:28 PM Lol Nobody watched the Puppy Bowl? :) Team Fluff vs Team Ruff. Team Fluff won 87 to 83 with Vivian, a little bulldog scoring the final TD after taking a green turtle toy into the end zone! :)
Babalu 02-13-2023, 07:52 PM I watched my nightly (unless the Rangers are on) episode of Star Trek from 8-9.
Spent the pre-game show time at the Planetarium/Museum of Natural History.
biffbronson 02-13-2023, 09:09 PM This year's Super Bowl fell on my niece's birthday, so I was tired from her party (including doubles ping-pong). I managed to stay awake through 3 quarters but missed #4 totally. Oh well.
Chocolate Moose 02-14-2023, 05:28 PM Binging DCC Season 12 on Hulu. Went to sleep around 10 something.
KurtfromPitts 02-15-2023, 11:52 AM I watched a couple of episodes of Air Disasters on Smithsonian Channel then browsed the web on my tablet.
Yong Fang 02-18-2023, 08:52 AM I love College Football but do not have that much interest in the NFL. Maybe just out of spite of what and how the NFL is.
I can explain, but the game has somehow lost the pagentry of the past. Hard to put a finger on it, but has.
I live overseas in China. If I was home, I would have watched the whole game. Now, Chinese television, the Communist, State Owned Network, shows the Superbowl with Chinese announcers! But we dont have cable service here or even watch TV, we are entertained by our mobile devices. For me this year, I woke up the next day and watched the game in snippets on Youtube without knowing who won. 15 minutes of action versus 3 hours of it.
I lived in the Capitol of the Province which is Hangzhou 杭州, and for several years had a Superbowl Party. The thing is, the game came on at 7 AM on a Monday! I didnt go for several years but one year decided to go. Woke up about 7 am. I didnt know what to expect but there was about fifty plus foreigners there! We saw the game, and I even had an alcoholic drink there. Half time, since the bar/restaurant disallowed smoking, a lot of us went out for a smoke about 8:30am and watched a normal morning rush hour of people mostly going to work and we were partying.
Really, the last full Superbowl game I saw was New Orleans beating Denver. This game was historic. The Saints? In the Superbowl? This is like the future Cubs in the World Series. Saw it in a hotel room with my wife, made love to her at halftime (best halftime show ever), took a hot shower then the Saints won the victory. A kid I knew texted me half drunk saying it was a good time in the bar and wish I was there. Sort of wish I was, but being with my beautiful wife (who woke me up to tell me the game was coming on) was great enough.
I dont need to see another game. Unless it is the Lions vs the Browns. Then Jesus comes back to Earth.
