Here's my idea for a fic, if you guys like it then I'll write it.

Charles is found dead in his office after a fire. Since the resignation papers were destroyed no one ever knew Kate quit and she received a call saying she'd been promoted to cheif of police. She decides to keep this job instead of quitting. The new felony division captain wants to be cheif of police and he figures out ways of blackmailing Kate and bringing up past issues to get her fired so he can take her place.

How's that?
