Has anyone else noticed how much the background scenery would change outside the diner?

In the first season there was a bank across the street. Behind it you could see painted scenery to look like the city.

In the second season at some point the bank was gone. And the the scenery looked like an empty area with trees across the street, and more buildings in the distance beyond that.

Then suddenly the bank appeared again in one episode with a car parked in front.

So strange. :)

I never could figure out what was going on outside lol I thought sometimes it looked like a big tall fence almost like a wall was in front of the diner, when they were outside anyway

I guess the neighborhood was changing and evolving like many towns and cities do. The only constant is change.

Just outside and to the right the diner jutted out a few feet, with a fence next to that going further out into the street. It made no sense because the diner was right on the street.

In other episodes it looked like a larger building was in that spot, but connected to the diner. In some episodes it looked like there was space between the diner and larger building with a side alley between them.

In the episode where Mel sells his car to the waitresses without the pink slip, and they go all go behind the diner to fight over the car, it looks like a slightly larger building is to the right. But there is a wooden fence between the buildings.

Interesting, I'll keep an eye out for these views.

I am watching the movie right now. There is a side window not just the front window. And from that angle you can see a building that you would normally see in the front on Alice on the side. It makes no sense on the TV show Alice but since it is on the side of the restaurant it makes more sense. It's like the designers of the TV show didn't watch it closely enough

The TV diner was small like a typical storefront Cafe. But the movie diner was a little bigger like a coffee shop restaurant.

I haven't seen the movie in many years, perhaps I'll catch it again soon.
