Jan Brady was just a fictional character, and Plumb wanted everyone to see a new side of her.

She did have some success doing so. She was in a TV movie called "Dawn, portrait of a teenage runaway", that was a smash hit. An interview I saw with Bruch Villanch on YouTube was talking about the Brady Variety Show stated that the movie got one of the highest ratings of all time for a TV movie.

She seemed to be more of a "professional actor" than the other actors who played the Brady kids. Barry Williams (Greg) has been successful as a "song and dance man", and that is not to belittle his skills, but he is more an entertainer than an actor. Except for the horribe variety shows and the short term revival series, the other actors went on to do other things in life. Christopher Knight became a very successful businessman. Mike Lookiland who played Bobby became a TV cameraman. Susan Olsen was in radio. But Plumb was the professional actress.

I have stated this before on other threads but a 1990's talk show (I think Rikki Lake or Jenny Jones) invited former child stars as adults on the show. While others talked about their experiences on their respective series, Plumb just about refused to do that. She wanted to talk about her current life and said that "The Brady Bunch" was just an acting gig to her and wanted to talk about her current life. She adamently refused to do a request from an audience member to do the "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!" thing, and you could tell she would rather be tortured than do it. Which sort of makes me wonder, why in the hell did you agree to be on the show in the first place?

Plumb is the first of the "kids" to be divorced and is supposedly fairly to quite wealthy, her and Chris Knight are the wealthiest of the "kids".

I'm glad Eve accepted the role in The Brady Brides series, it's very worthwhile to see even if you're just a lukewarm fan. Her sister Flora also did some acting, you can best see her in a Dusty's Trail episode.
