Was the Red River Sam a fictional adventure book series meant to be similar to Tom Swift books or the Hardy Boys adventure series?

Apparently, Beaver and Whitey each owned 9-10 books from the Red River Sam adventures.

I think the answer to that is yes.

There was probably no problem mentioning the Hardy Boys or Tom Swift, but the episode had Beaver detailing adventures of Sam. You probably couldn't do that with real books, due to copyrights.

If they were real, I think they would have been fun to collect for their connection to the show.

It's not a bad prop.

From the back cover it looks like Beaver would have to save up a dollar for one. I don't remember what the Hardy Boys cost back then, but I think it was more than that.
