During Emergency’s run, there were only male firefighters at Station 51. When women were admitted as paramedics on the Los Angeles Fire Department, I wonder how John, Roy, Chet and the rest of the firemen would react to that development?

I don’t know, but remembering how both John and Roy reacted to having to free that comely young woman’s big toe from the faucet of her bathtub, I suspect that the confirmed bachelor John and the happily-married Roy would feel somewhat awkward and unsure about distaff paramedics in the fire station with them.

Although, I bet that Chet, the fire station’s resident Lothario, would be absolutely delighted with the presence of female paramedics.

Oh, if only Emergency had stayed on the air for another season or two, we probably would have found out how the men of Station 51 would have reacted to the arrival of female paramedics to their lair.

Wasn't there that one gal that came to train and then went back to Redding? That gave them a slight taste of chickadees in the station.

They needed a female character on par with *Bryce with following all the rules.

There was a reporter, Christy Todd, played by lovely Leslie Charleson. (Pause to absorb the drool forming in my mouth.) Season 2, Episode 9, "Women," Nov. 25, 1972. Here are the synopses I've come across, first from IMDb:

The paramedics have a female reporter accompanying them for the day who rubs some of the personnel of Station 51 the wrong way.

From Video Detective:

A beautiful journalist is assigned to cover the paramedics and incurs the wrath of the entire fire department, especially Johnny Gage (Randolph Mantooth).

Leslie was so beautiful on Happy Days a few years later, and a total knockout on Emergency!.
