How I Met Your Mother was full of a lot of dating rules, often voiced by Barney Stinson, who lived and preached “The Bro Code.” And while today many of these rules are cringe-worthy and dated, displaying a retrograde understanding of gender, they still get at a deeper ongoing desire to codify dating and relationships into a clear set of laws.
