TCM aired this movie tonight starring River Phoenix, Judd Hirsch, Christine Lahti, and Martha Plimpton about a family on the lam with River's Oscar nominated character having Juilliard talent. It would have been nice to get a sequel.

Running on Empty is a 1988 American drama film directed by Sidney Lumet. It tells the poignant story of 1960s radical activists (played by Judd Hirsch and Christine Lahti) who have been hiding from the FBI for two decades, and the personal toll this fugitive lifestyle takes on their teenage son (River Phoenix).Ill have to see if I cn find it on VHS :)
