i found it odd that arnold was never involved with no girl and that Mr. drummond was not involved with a women until the final 2 seasons.

Actually, there were a lot of episodes in the first 5 seasons before he met Maggie were Drummond went out on dates, and he even proposed in one.

Arnold didn't have a girlfriend in the first lot of seasons because he was only 8 years old and kids that age don't- there was an episode 80 in which it showed he was too youg to start dating.
