Ricardos4ever 08-18-2002, 08:41 AM Very interesting. 91 and 85.....that really isn't that old to me -- my great-grandmother died last year and she was almost 105! It's too bad that so many people associated with that show are already deceased.
So Mrs. McGillicudy was only 18 years older than Lucy? I guess she had her at a young age, lol! And Bobby the bellboy was older than them? I never would have expected that. He seemed so youthful to me. Thanks for that, JaneTVFan!

That's wonderful! I bet she had lots of interesting stories to tell!

But you know what? She was actually about the same age as Lucy's real mother. Dede was only 19 years older than Lucy.
And Bobby the bellboy was older than them? I never would have expected that. He seemed so youthful to me. Thanks for that, JaneTVFan!
You're welcome. And yes, I had the very same thoughts about Bobby. I thought he seemed almost like a kid next to the rest of them. I guess it must have been his baby face.

She died three years ago, August 24, 1999:
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Mary Jane Croft Lewis, who played a comedy sidekick in Lucille Ball's television series, died Tuesday at age 83.
The actress built a career on playing TV's friendly neighbor, starting with a role on ``The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet.'' She and Lyle Talbot played Clara and Joe Randolph on the sitcom from 1956-66.
Mrs. Lewis joined ``I Love Lucy'' for the 1957 season, playing neighbor Betty Ramsey.
Mrs. Lewis began her career on radio in Cincinnati and moved to Los Angeles in 1939. She had roles on the era's major radio dramas, including ``Lux Radio Theatre'' and a radio version of ``Ozzie and Harriet,'' as well as the TV and radio versions of Eve Arden's series ``Our Miss Brooks.''
Mrs. Lewis was the widow of ``The Lucy Show'' producer, Eliott Lewis.

I'm sorry, but I don't think any of us are going to be able to help you with that. I wish I could. But look at it this way, before you were conceived, you didn't exist any more than you will after you die. I doubt that you're troubled that you haven't been around since the beginning of time, so there's no need to worry that you won't be around until the end of time, either. Dying is like going to sleep but never waking up. Once you're gone, you won't know the difference; only those you leave behind will. Just be happy that you're alive now, and as long as you have life, enjoy every minute of it.
SOAPDYNASTY 08-20-2002, 07:51 PM JaneTVFan your right .... but i wish we all can live forever Thanks!

Make that three of us. Imagine, just 55 years ago, only one country in the entire world had nuclear bomb making technology, the United States. Ten years later, two countries had it, the other being the Soviet Union. Today, about a dozen countries have it, including very unstable countries like Pakistan whose government could easily be taken over by radical extremists who would love to use that technology to destroy modern civilization. What's more, it's even possible now to fit nuclear weapons into a suitcase. They don't have to be dropped from an airplane. And suicidal terrorist groups like Al Queda who aren't part of a government supposedly have that capability. So you can see the trend here. The technology of mass destruction is becoming more "advanced" and is getting into the hands of more and more people, many of whom are plain evil. If things could have gotten this far in just 55 years, imagine how much worse it can get 55 years from now. I just wish we didn't have a government that doesn't care about pissing off the rest of the world. The more our government pisses off the world, the more determined evil people will be to take revenge against us. No, the world doesn't seem to be on track to becoming a prettier place in the future.
Crimson and Clover 08-21-2002, 07:10 PM its sad to think that like only three people from lucy are still alive

I'm not a regular viewer of the show, but I just learned that Lucy was older than Desi. :read:
cubsfan1060 10-08-2002, 10:39 PM When did Bobby jellison die? He was a funny comic and I liked every episode he was in. That includes #122 where Lucy hides under a table.
SPLAIN 10-09-2002, 01:08 PM Yep, you're right, the scene where he pretends to be a ventriloquist while she sings and he drinks was a riot, WHEN IRISH EYES ARE SMILING. . .

SPLAIN 11-04-2002, 11:29 AM I somewhat agree with the pessimists out there, what with Bush in charge, but, remember that they said the same things 40 or 50 years ago. And the world keeps going. . . In '62, we thought we would all die when The USA and Russia took us to the brink, to day there are many more players, yes, but the result would be the same, MUTUAL DESTRUCTION!
