The last season it was just bad!:( Fan of old shows 10-13-2002, 11:43 AM i never found interest in the entire show. TVFactFan 10-14-2002, 12:04 AM Originally posted by Fan of old shows i never found interest in the entire show. I know what you mean-this show was bad. The only episode i have on tape is the pilot episode. That's only episode worth watching again. Karen64 10-14-2002, 09:23 PM Didn't they try to replace Vinnie Barbarino with some other hunky guy after John Travolta left the series? If I remember right, thats what they did and the show really sucked after that! If I remember right, thats what they did and the show really sucked after that! Yeah-they replaced Barbarino with Ted Mcginely-the same guy who replaced Richie on Happy Days and Steve on Married with Children Fan of old shows 10-14-2002, 10:34 PM wow i didnt know Ted Mcginley was on this show. no wonder he has his own section on Jumptheshark.com DetectiveGriffin 10-14-2002, 10:59 PM it wasnt ted mcginley, but he did look sort of like him. wat was the characters name, bo? Cheryl Harrell 10-14-2002, 11:37 PM Beau DeLaBarre (hope I spelled it right). He was played by Steven Shortridge. He tried but he was no Travolta tho. There was one Beau (Bo) episode that is the better known of the Beau (Bo) episodes. It's one where everyone including the Sweathogs is mean to him & I think they tacked his clothes up on the wall & in the end the Sweathogs warmed up to him... Moonlight Lady 10-18-2002, 01:48 PM Yeah Steven Shortridge, he was cute. I agree with Cheryl, he was no Travolta. I loved the scene where Juan is stapling Beau's pants to the wall, all the while singing "Look for the Union Label." I'll never know why they didn't make Carvelli and Murray into Sweathogs. I don't know if that would have saved the show from cancellation. imaillusion 06-04-2004, 02:22 AM Originally posted by TVShow Analyzer can anyone tell me why welcme back kotter only lasted 3 years? Welcome Back, Kotter was a very popular sitcom that lasted for 4 seasons; the reason why the program was successful, was probably to the enormous popularity of John Travolta. Travolta left the show in 1978 due to the Huge success of two of his movies, Saturday Night Fever and Grease; and the Vinnie Barbrino(sic) character was replaced by a blond and handsome actor by the name of Stephen Shortbridge, who played the rather arrogant and smooth Southerner, unfortunately the viewers were not impressed with the "Beau" character, nor were they still interested in Welcome Back, Kotter and the show was cancelled in 1979.... The disappearance of vinnie and mr. kotter was the keys reasons the show was unwatchable. Moonlight Lady 06-04-2004, 12:40 PM I agree, Kotter definitely jumped the shark when Beau was added to the show, let's not forget Mary Johnson. She really didn't do much for the show either. I never hd a chance to see Beau because TV LAND didn't show many episodes from the last season. nerrad 06-07-2004, 09:19 AM Take your pick: Beau, Mary Johnson, Horshack becomes the most mature of the group, even gets married. He was kinda on the same acting league as Ben Powers (Keith from Good Times) a really handsome actor that did not have any depth or acting skills; that was not a very welcomed addition to the show; similar when they added that female Sweathog.. Here is my question. If it was the 4 same guys hanging out for 3 years, why would they bring in someone new??? That extremely stupid. That's like replacing Raj on what's happening with a new guy to hang with rerun and dwayne. Lady T 06-12-2004, 01:03 AM Originally posted by TVShow Analyzer Here is my question. Even though I am fan of Welcome Back, Kotter, it was a STUPID show; the whole concept of the show was based to entertain the simple minds of young, pre-teen girls, so, you do not except a lot of indepth story lines, or highly intellectual characters... Up your nose with a rubber hose. :joke: I don't think it was a stupid show. Maybe it never got any emmy nominations, but it was a funny show. Maybe I was being too harsh; it was a stupid, in a funny way, type of show; hey, I am not going to knock Welcome Back, Kotter, because I am a fan...:) Mr. Television 06-13-2004, 12:31 AM Originally posted by jpnoyes Up your nose with a rubber hose. :joke: I don't think it was a stupid show.
