Of all the Disney movies during the 70's and 80's I have never figured out why Pete's Dragon in 1977 and it used to be one of Disney's most underrated movies when it first came out but ever since Disneyland debuted the Main Street Electrical Parade it somehow made Pete's Dragon popular because Elliott the dragon is the star of the parade. Was the original Pete's Dragon a huge failure when it was released in theaters? Because I think what really made the film worthy of watching was the late Helen Reddy's acting and her song Candle In The Water was a good ballad but I think Disney was destined for a huge box-office hit
