How surprising is it that Archie or Edith never made a guest star appearance on neither one of All in the Family's sucessful spinoffs which were "Maude" and the " Jeffersons".

SOAPDYNASTY 08-17-2002, 10:17 PM Well Archie and Edith kind of did make a crossover appearance on Maude. It was in the Maude pilot episode that is part of all in the family shows. They were on the set on Maude at (Maude House) in All in the Family episode #37 So Archie and Edith did make a crossover appearance on Maude.:) TVFactFan 08-17-2002, 10:28 PM Originally posted by SOAPDYNASTY Well Archie and Edith kind of did make a crossover appearance on Maude. They were on the set on Maude at (Maude House) in All in the Family episode #37 So Archie and Edith did make a crossover appearance on Maude.:) I can't count that because that was still a all in the family episode. Now if archie and edith was visting maude once the show started like episode 1 2 or 3, then it would be a crossover. So Technically, it was a spinoff instead of a crossover SOAPDYNASTY 08-17-2002, 11:08 PM Sorry but i count this episode as a Archie and Edith crossover appearance on Maude. I know it is part of the all in the family shows but seeing it was tape on the same Maude set i count it as a crossover episode. We are luck they did this episode seeing this is the only episode we see them on the Maude set ever. TVFactFan 08-17-2002, 11:20 PM Do you know if the show maude made any references to all in the family during the first season? was archie or edith ever mentioned or was there ever a phone conversation between maude and edith? SOAPDYNASTY 08-17-2002, 11:42 PM I don't know about the maude show but i do know the Jeffersons did in a 1979 episode talk about Archie, Edith and mike. TVFactFan 08-17-2002, 11:47 PM i do remmember george and weezie going back to visit the bunkers. George went back to visit in 1978 and Weezie went back in 79. They were not together when they went back to visit. SOAPDYNASTY 08-18-2002, 12:02 AM I saw them and it was nice to see them episodes.:) AB 06-22-2007, 06:10 PM It would have been a treat to see them on both shows, wonder why it never happened? Could it have been a timing or money issue that kept them from making a guest appearance? Just curious about it. But Then you see George and Weezy RETURN to AITF after the Jeffersons became a Popular show, strange comedyfreak 06-28-2007, 09:00 AM I don't think the Jeffersons needed them, they were strong enough on their own. TVFactFan 06-28-2007, 06:49 PM I don't think the Jeffersons needed them, they were strong enough on their own. Well we know the Jeffersons didn't need them to gain a fanbase, i would have just been interested in seeing Archie and edith in a different situation Ireneparalegal 06-28-2007, 06:52 PM How surprising is it that Archie or Edith never made a guest star appearance on neither one of All in the Family's sucessful spinoffs which were "Maude" and the " Jeffersons". Which season did Edith die on AITF? And what seasons of Maude and the Jeffersons were showing at that time her character died? TVFactFan 06-28-2007, 06:58 PM Which season did Edith die on AITF? Dr. Thong 06-28-2007, 07:00 PM Which season did Edith die on AITF? And what seasons of Maude and the Jeffersons were showing at that time her character died? Edith didn't die on AITF. Her death (off-camera) was revealed on the second season premiere of Archie Bunker's Place. AITF didn't crossover with Maude. An episode of AITF was used as a pilot for Maude, with a different actress in the role of Carol, as I recall. This was common practice back in those days, to use an established hit show as a launching pad for another. TVFactFan 06-28-2007, 07:16 PM Edith didn't die on AITF. Ok well she died in season 11 of AITF/Season 2 of ABP, no difference same show Irene so it was actually season 7 of the Jeffersons when Edith Died Dr. Thong 06-28-2007, 09:01 PM Ok well she died in season 11 of AITF/Season 2 of ABP, no difference same show Not trying to start a war here, but it wasn't the same show. Same character (Archie), but even in its first season, Edith only appeared in a few episodes. There was more emphasis on the bar and the bar's regulars. The handwriting was on the wall when Rob Reiner and Sally Struthers left AITF. After one season without them, Jean Stapleton decided she wanted to lessen her involvement - ultimately leaving - and hence, the show was reborn as ABP. Just the way I see it.
