I like to eat plain yougurt mixed with fruit (cranberry my favorite), so decided to make my own yogurt since it is so easy to make and save some money too along the way. It is real easy and no kitchen gadgets required. I like to use yougurt with fat content as it taste better than non fat yougurt.

Step1: Pour 32 oz of milk (1/4 gallon) into a pot and heat on the stove. As milk is starting to boil (don't let it boil) cut off the heat. This step will kill impurity and germs in the milk.

Step2: Let the milk cool down to a point where you can stick your finger in it without burning (around 110-120 degree). For reference, hot tap water is around 120 degree.

Step 3: Mix in a spoon full of store bought yougurt as a starter into the warm milk. You have to do this only once (buying from store), since once you made the yougurt, one can use one spoon full from the last batch as a starter for the next batch.

Step 4: Pour the mixture into a jar or plastic container with a lid and emerse it in tub of hot tap water. Put a plastic wrap or foil over the bath water as to not loss tap water heat. Change water every hour as to keep bath water between 110 to 120 degree for 8 hours. After eight hours, one can see that milk has jelatinized.

And thats all there is to it. After eight hours, put the container(s) in refrigerator over night to cool it down. And then enjoy :)

Plain yougurt is most versatile as one can eat it plain or mix it with fruit or geranola. At store, they put so much sugar and preservative in the flavored or fruit yogurt that taste like eating candy.
