I'm sure this has been covered before, but what show could have had a spinoff show?

I think that Larry, Darryl and Darryl could have had their own show from Newhart. They had the cartoonish approach like Married with Children or Gilligan’s Island had.

I think there were some possibility of Arnold Ziffel could have had his own show from Green Acres. If I remember correctly it would be a comical approach to the later seasons of Lassie. Arnold would travel to different "adventures" after inherenting a bunch of money.

Actually I'm amazed that there wasn't a cartoon based on Arnold considering then many TV show had their own cartoon show.

I may come up with others. What would your choice(s) be?

The Paul Lynde Show could have been the Uncle Arthur show. "He-witched"?

Gilligan's Island: The Professor-Mary Ann Mysteries

Interesting idea. Would they focus on scientific discoveries, or regular mysteries?

Great idea! That would have been better than seeing him as a cynical husband/father. If they were trying for an Archie Bunker clone they failed.

And the Paul Lynde Show was put on to satisfy some sort of contract issue with the makers of Bewitched. At least I think that was the story.

They use science to solve all sorts of mysteries.

Works for me. But are the still on the island? I guess they can drum up 3 years of mysteries just on the island.

Dennis the Menace could have had a spinoff for Seymour. He seemed to have a similar feel as the early Dennis was. His attitude was a bit more devious than Dennis.

Could have been a fun show.

The one I would have loved to see was "Lenny and Squiggy", spun off from "Laverne and Shirley". It would have taken place during the time when the cast moved from Milwaukee to Hollywood. I can see the boys running their own Hollywood talent agency with Carmine as their first client and Rhonda (upstairs neighbor to Laverne and Shirley) as their typically dumb blonde secretary.

So Laverne and Shirley would have stayed behind in Milwaukee and Lenny & Sguiggy would have moved to Hollywood for their very own spinoff.

I had pictured this happening after Season 6 when the entire cast had moved to Hollywood and the episodes were getting stale. Naturally, the girls would have made guest appearances throughout the series, however long it ran.

Lilith as a spinoff of Cheers/Frasier. I love the Bebe!

I think that I read when she guest starred on Frasier, the ratings were better on those episodes.

Another one I was just thinking of would be a spinoff of "The Andy Griffith Show" where Don Knotts moves Barney Fife to Raleigh where he hopes to become a big-city police detective instead of the small town deputy that he was in Mayberry but his general goofiness and constant bumbling gets in the way. I think this would have been a natural fit for him and might have turned into a hit series.

He was excellent as a side kick. Not sure if being in a staring role would have worked. It would all depend on the cast and writing. He complimented Andy so well. And even his role on Three’s Company was a complimentary part and he mixed in well there too.
